I still have a studio and do a lot of session stuff and I have the chops. but my
job has taken me in a dif direction then I had planned.

I used to Just play and play and play and make good money. from jazz to hardcore punk.
life goes on. I was a marine for 12 years also.

 

And no, not wedding bands. I was a real drummer, not a fake drummer.

I had to make a career change when computers hit the live stages here in Detroit. I was actually a columnist in the Basics section of Modern Drummer for a while in the late 1980s-early-1990s. Then I switched to commercial writing. Then I was laid off ... commercial writing is as bad as music as far as job security goes. :?

 

My father played with people like tito puente and celie cruz (latin jazz)
he also played with art pepper. I grew up playing jazz. started playing at the age of 5. I play everything from country, jazz, rock a billy, metal, swing, fusion,
bop, imean run what ya brung.

 

It's because I'm proud of it Mel. I miss it, too.

Yes, I can read all sheet music and write. I took theory also. I can play Guitar, bass, piano, And shitty brass.

My job doesn't give me the flexibility to meet up and record with that band anymore. I had to move about 25 miles away from those guys. Plus, they all have "day jobs" now. We'll get it together again.
