I remember reading an interview with the guy that plays Hunt (who is fucking awesome by the way) saying that the second season of Ashes should be the last time he plays the character, that he didn't want to over do it.

Course that was a while ago and he could have easily have changed his mind by now

No, they've made it clear Ashes to Ashes would be the last incarnation of the Gene Genie. The only thing they might do is a third series of it.

Ashes takes a bit of getting into, but it finds its legs. A lot of the humour is derived from her knowing the `characters` of her `delusion` from Sam's psych records, plus the same sort of cock-eye of the 21st Century to the policing of the past.

There's a gay episode that is both quite funny and tragic.

And the arc plot, trying to save her parents, is amazingly well done.

Kim is Bauer's daughter; she's heavily involved in Days 1, 2 and 3, pops up in 5, and is now returning, we presume to round out the character, in Day 7.

Sam's was never fully explained; he saved Annie's life in the first series, as he witnessed his Dad probably kicking her to death as a wee bairn.

The second series vanished up it's own arse.

Alex's reasons are wildly different, but what is also different is the ending. She *has* to go back to the present day. She's not in the same position as Sam; she's got a little girl to go back to. There is no way they will allow a show such as this to end with her daughter being left alone in the future, godfather or no.

My favourite ending would be for Gene Hunt, long since retired, to turn up and save Alex Drake on the boat in the present day. And then just end, with no real explanation. :mrgreen:

 

She hated him in Day 2 for that, but forgave him. Was in CTU in Day 3, but that ended badly.

And she has huge Daddy issues in Day 5.

Cannot wait for her to come back. :mrgreen:
