    I think the first song of his I heard was Montana, and the guitar solo just blew me away. After that I started collectin his albums more for the musicality than for the lyrics, though his lyrics are pure genius, even the silly ones. He's also had a very impressive group of artists play for him over the years. Often, it's worth checking out what the musicians that have gone on have done. The likes of Jean Luc Ponty, George Duke (who I'm listening to at the moment), Missing Persons, Steve Vai, etc.

    Montana is a masterpiece. I've got quite a lot of stuff from the musicians he played with. Just some incredibly talented people. As a drummer I have a soft spot for Ruth Underwood, who has to be one of the best percussionists I've ever heard.
