Job 1 - Where I am being laid off in June. Since they did a multi-phase layoff, each time they let a group of people go, they realize how much stuff that didn't realize happened, still needs to happen. So those still left have to do it. I am part of the last group being released and we are overwhelmed with all the projects that the people released in Dec, Jan, and Mar couldn't finish.

Job 2 - We got surprised by getting so many contracts, we can't keep up and have started to refuse some, or offer completion dates in Nov/Dec. On top of that, we bought a warehouse/office combo that we need to move into (starting tomorrow) so we could stop driving all over town to put machines together. We will now be centrally located.

Night School - Just finished a 5 week basic electrical course where I learned to read electrical blueprints, solder, and due some basic calculations to determine if something is working properly or not.

In between all of those, I have been applying for jobs, interviewing, and failing to find something else.

Over the past 3 months, I have had 2 weekends to pause. Weekend 1, I packed my 3 oldest kids into the car, drove for 6 hours in a freak snow storm down to Dallas. Arrived 2 hours later than planned, so ate at the Rainforest Cafe, then hit the hot tub for an hour and crashed at the hotel. Woke up and was at the gates of Six Flags before they opened, and stayed until they kicked us out. Drove back home in 3.5 hours to be home in time to sleep for 3 hours before the next day at work.

Last weekend, I did some yardwork Saturday, all day. Ate some fast food, then stayed up all night puking my head off for no good reason. Finally able to pass out at 10 AM Sunday. Woke up around 6, no still feeling sick, but was able to move around.

Leading to my Monday full day of work, followed by my class final. Aced the soldering test and got an A on the paper test. Went out after class ended and found a new place to hang out to relieve stress. Made friends with the chef and bartender (who happens to be an Ice Girl for the local hockey team). I'll post her pic if I can get it. They told me to come back tonight and gave me some coupons for free food and drinks as a bribe.

Anyway, just to damn much over the past few months. My next class was delayed until August, so I get a small break between now and then of just working the 2 jobs, which will go down to 1 job in just 8 weeks now.

Evidently by sacrificing what I enjoy - phun, beer, and babes.

To take a positive view about my upcoming unemployment, more time for what I enjoy. (Job 2 is just part-time with my dad, but I am seriously considering making it my full time job for a free trip to Sweden in June or July to install a machine)

Well, try to make a visit to Stockholm for 2 days. It`s a MUST in the summer time !

 

I really don't like the sound of how far north that is.

I'm trying to convince my old man, we need to do a full Euro tour to inspect his machines and try and sell more of them. That would put us in Norway, Germany, Austria, Turkey, and one other country (I just can't remember which one).
