Just dropped out and restarted when I found the thing that's been bugging my system. That Bar Refaeli clip of the Hurley shoot is either corrupted, or something about it just pisses my system off.

Deleted, see what happens now.

    There. Fixed my grammar.

Are you following the automotive industry happenings? What do you think about Chrysler's bankruptcy?

Don't really follow it, what with our own problems and all.

    However....

My friend, your car industry is about to go through the same change ours did. The death of a domestic industry, aside for the specialised, specific ranges, and the replacement of it by `foreign` cars being built in American factories.

I'm amazed it's lasted as long as it has; your export market is for shit, so now that no one wants to, and are unable too, buy the more expensive, and more expensive to run, American cars in the US, they're turning to expected ports; Toyota, Honda etc.

"Foreign nameplates" is the way to say it. As is "domestic nameplate." As long as jobs are here, people won't give a heap about what they're building.

If the global economy bounces back within the next two years, then you guys will go back to business as usual.

But there will be less business. People suffering now will ignore the `Buy American` crap later on down the road because other, foreign companies do it cheaper and more efficient than their American counterparts.

Whilst Prius' are a source of great humour now (and rightly so because they are a piece of shit and not nearly as green as people make out), really good gas mileage will become the major selling point. And American cars are generally known for being shit out of luck in that department.

Exactly. Back in the day, some of our Unions bitched and whined about it, but now, we're happy to build Fords and Toyotas and everything else. Better here than in Asia.

And the Unions got their dicks handed to them by Maggie back in the 80's, thank the Gods.

Although, thanks to 12 years of these spineless New Labour fucks, they've been rearing their ugly faces again.

The American nameplate industry is about to find out what it's capable of. I mentioned 10 years because I foresee what you said about the instant "buy American" thing. After that will be the real test.

There is a need for unions of some sort in civilized nations. Companies piss all over their workers terribly at some places.

I mean, we make jokes about it, but, seriously, what's the gas mileage on your car?

I have no problems with unions representing their workers.

I have big problems with unions forcing their agendas, closing jobs off to union members only (`closed shops`), using their muscle to force things that they are not entitled too, but they feel they are, and fuck everyone else.

I also have big problems with union leaders who haven't worked a day in twenty years, but have gotten fat off the backs of `their` workers.

These were the excesses that Maggie curbed. And this is the shit that's been coming back.
