My only question to you sci-fi experts is......what do I delve into next?

 

Well, you've still got two seasons of BSG yet.

Then the pilot for Caprica, which is really a lot better than I thought it'd be.

As to serious sci-fi a la BSG, there, I'm stumped. There hasn't really been a show quite like it before.

For humour based sci-fi with a heady dose of space opera, there's Farscape.

Firefly, of course.

 

I'm going to snag at least the first disc of season 3 tonight. Bigass files man, and my "ol' box" gets a little temperamental with them.

Dying to see Caprica, but I'm going to get caught up before I check it out.

 

I put off watching Caprica for such a long time, thinking, believing, it'd suck ass.

Gods, was I wrong. And so glad I am.

Gives us BSG fraks somewhere to land next season, especially if the sci-fi tv gets eviscerated come May decision, as expected.

I only started watching it after seeing you guys speak of it. I said what the hell, and gave it a look. After the second episode, there was no turning back.

It's supposed to be scrapped this month? If that's the case, we should launch a phun based fuck you e-mail campaign! (If one hasn't been started already).

 

I always tell people, watch the mini-series. If you're not hooked by that alone, then don't bother.

What are you talking about? I'm talking about The Sarah Connor Chronicles AND Dollhouse AND Chuck (a stretch, but still) being up for the chop. The decision's usually get handed down in May.

BSG is finished, naturally, all right and tight.

 

I was talking about BSG. I've never seen a televised episode of it, and didn't know if it was still kicking. Which season is the last?

 

Season 4 is the regular conclusion of the series, although there is an Edward James Olmos directed TV movie in November called `The Plan`, which, apparently, shows the Cylon version of events leading up to the Fall.

And, of course, `Caprica`.

 

Caprica isn't meant to be a straight, up-down, prequel, but the argument made is that if you loved BSG, then you'll probably love Caprica.

And I love Caprica already, just a little bit. :wink:

 

We talked about it in the Sci-Fi. We don't yet know where the series is going to go.

The pilot is set `58 years before the Fall`, so we weren't sure if it was supposed to run to the beginning of the Cylon Rebellion and war, or all the way up to the Fall.

The benefit of the sequel is that they are precluded from mining BSG for cast members. They may even avoid re-casting small bit part players into Caprica, because they know the fans will go `hang on, this person played this person in this episode` etc. :wink:

The fear for Caprica was the old `too many bites of the cherry` concept. Spin-offs are notorious for being a bit shit. Happily, this is not the case here.
