If it sparkles, shines or reflects light it's accentually a alure for fish, barracudas, especially sharks they are all attracted to shiny objects, which may mistake you as their prey. So it's good advice to leave your jewelry or other shiny objects on shore while swimming, snorkelling, and scuba diving in the ocean so is not to attract them.
