    Dragon, I would love one day to ship my bike over and spend a few months touring Austraia and New Zealand. Right now, that seems a bit of a remote dream. I need to see this country first! Only seen about 20% of the USA. Last summer I rode the entire east coast from Florida to Maine.

    Yup would be one hell of a trip.

    Riding the whole of the USA would be cool too.
    The thing with Aussie is distance, people in the USA think they know what distance is about, but you have towns & cities at regular intervals.

    Large regions of the outback are uninhabited desert, & the roads infrequently travelled. People die there because the car breaks down.
    Rule no 1, never leave the vehicle, staying with the vehicle even if it is completely stuffed is your best chance of survival.
    You will have some form of shelter, you can drink the water from the radiator (& you will if you have to)

    New Zealand is roughly the size of California, spread over 3 main islands,
    very varied scenery, in a smaller area.
    The killer is time here.
    The roads are comparitively narrow & winding, 300km (180 miles) might take 3 hours to drive if you can maintain legal max speed (100kph/60mph) but could easily take 6-7 hours.
