    This thread is very informative.

Why on RS they do not state that after 6 weeks, points on premium account are lost?

If one say has a 60MB file is it still one point if one downloads his file?

And which accumulates most points, a file in a premium account or in a collector account for the same number of downloads?

    Thanks

RS are stating that points are never lost as long as your account exists whether it is premium or collector account.

    Hope this helps somebody....

Seems that a premium account can be suspended due to uploading or downloading of porn? Can this be confirmed?

I don`t think so. RapidShare can suspend a file on your account cause of illegal content. If the files is suspended, you`ll get an error message like this:

So....are there any consequences if all the files you upload end up getting that flag? Kind of weird that they suspend the files but still let you upload them and get point from them.

I decided to put a password on my rar files. Will that prevent them from blocking the files?

Hummm... do they crack the password? Or maybe check the referring URL? I saw some put their link so they aren't clickable. Password protected + non clickable ?

Cause the first ones I posted didnt even last 24 hours. Thx for the help.

There are rumors than a few guys got their account suspended cause they uploaded too much ( later reported) files from a special site (i heard that the guys from videoteenage and PureCFNM are very active when it comes to report their files). If this happens over and over again and the siteowners see (in a forum) that always the same guy uploads and re-uploads their stuff, i guess they will talk to RS and maybe (!) then your account is suspended.
But there's no real proof for this.

Not sure if i get you right with the last sentence. If a file is blocked, nobody can download it anymore and so you won't get any more points. If i file gets blocked his unique file-code is added to a blacklist, so that you cannot upload the (exactly) same file again. There are a few methods to upload the file again by changing it's hash, but that would lead to far here.
I don't know if there are any consequences, but i understand that someone who is starting with the upload thing is worried about that point: so let me tell you that in about two years i lost over 1500 files and my account is still active.
I guess RS is having a software that monitors the accounts and alarms a staff member when there is too much reported in a short period of time. But as we don't know the parameters we can only guess and hope.
Generally: if you post somewhere and your stuff gets deleted very fast (the next day) you have maybe uploaded the wrong staff (don't wonder if BangBros stuff is deleted very fast, cause they have hired some nerds to search the net for them) or you are posting in the wrong boards. Here at phun i have the impression that my links last very long, but i know some other boards where i don't post anymore cause it's gone the next day.
So you have to find out by yourself what and where ...

I suppose RS would need double the power of Fort Meade to crack all the stuff that is uploaded in only one day, so no.
But there are other hosters (as netload) who are opening archives and only let you upoad it if you provide them the pw. RS is always pretending that they won't look into your files, maybe it's a matter of time until a court forces them to.
When it comes to the referring URL, maybe there's a blacklist of boards. But always have in mind that RS is your friend (and not google ;) ) and they make most of their money with the porn you upload, so they will only do what is necessary to prevent major abuse.
As link protectors are fortunately forbidden here, don't expect too much from using them somewhere else. If there's an agency that makes their money with reporting links they will have their tricks and tools to get your links out of protectors very easy. If you put code tags around your links (so that you cannot click them) it is only one click more for them to copy your links to their list, so it won't really help.
Putting a password to your files may be a personal note, at least some linkstealers maybe think twice if they take your link or someone elses link. It may also prevent your links from being remote copied and uloaded by someone else, but that's all.

[edit] i was just looking at the topic of this thread and saw that my post not really fits to that, but as there were some open questions and since i was writing so much (and even had to use a damn german-english dictionary) i won't delete it now ;)
So yes, creating a collectors account is much better than creating a link from your upload that only ten guys can use (but hey, at least ten happy guys are better than not uploading at all)

If you password protect, only those with passwords can open your file. That only works if someone want to see what is inside your file.

Anyone can report your file. Reported files aren't even viewed for content before they are put in the waiting period for deletion. You have the option to dispute the reason for deletion with some hosts, but why bother. You can change the file contents slightly and reup under a different name.

am gonna start uploading some stuff, but to me 6 pound a month for 150 gb of downloading is not a lot to pay, so ill probably just give accounts away.

but rapidshare is the best all round as megaupload tis very unrealiable and i mean very unrealiable.

and always protect your file with passwords

I am having problems with uploading files over 200MB using the Premium Account.

I thought I was allowed to upload over 200MB - 2GB at once.

    Any answers?

after you have uploaded a file as a "free user" you get the following screen:

just start a collectors accoun and use it for further uploads.

(sorry, german, but you´ll get the idea...)
