Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

any decent image viewer should render animated GIFs. IE should support them internally as well. GIF has been the defacto animated image format since compuserve intro'd it . I dont know how to enable animated files in IE8 because I've never even seen it run (and dont want to), sorry.

    "# Animated .gifs
Friday, April 03, 2009 5:26 PM by Maz

I have been using IE8 since launch, and am certainly enjoying it. But there is one thing that IE8 seems to have trouble with. Animated .gifs.

Not all, but many large (both in resolution, and or file size) and sometimes small .gif files hog my cpu and animate slowly. A good example is this: http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/image/near_20000919_large_anim.gif

    And this: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/misc/020609/westusa__June9_0015UTC_June13_0615UTC_2002.gif

Notice how the image starts off normal, but after a few seconds it starts to get slower, your CPU usage sky rockets, and then the animation starts tearing after each frame getting slower, and repeats.

I've searched through Google but I never really found a clear answer as to why this happens. Can anyone shed some light as to why this is happening, and if there is any way to fix the problem? Am I the only one having this problem?"

    or this: http://www.cmurrayconsulting.com/design-creative/ie8-disappointments-examples/

come on, thats retarded. AOL can render animated gifs

i have had nothing but trouble since updating to IE8 last month!

    browsers freeze!

sometimes when my laptop gets hot and my fan is blowing fast i have to wait up to 20-30 seconds to use anything in the taskbar, which includes back clicking to the previous page!

i fucking hate it! i want the old one back
