  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    so if i dont install the activeX, then those dumb ads on top of sites wont show up?

    i just updated to the new FF and when i go to sites like CU the ads dont show, and it says i need the plug in.

    if thats right, im not gonna install them, those ads do nothing but slow the page like crazy.

    No 2001, I'm not. I do have VLC installed because sometimes it's the only media player that will play some weird formats. I'm pretty sure I didn't install the plugins because I didn't want VLC involved with anything other than when I personally tell it to step up.

    well, i started reading this, and as soon as it mentioned that activeX can accidentally get viruses i said thats it.

    so im not gonna install them.

    Malwares, such as computer viruses and spywares, can be accidentally installed from malicious websites using ActiveX controls (drive-by downloads). Signed Java applets can also be used for such attacks, although this is rare.

    2001 in hindsight I may have misunderstood DC's question. Sometimes a piece of software like RealPlayer will ask you if you want to use it in your browser to show streaming media for example. If you decline, the streaming media will play via whatever default method the browser uses. I thought DC's question was more along those lines.

    U can even open ISO files with vlc so u don't have to burn or unzip it :)

    yes! the new vlc v1.0.0 is much better than 0.9.9

    i just played a vid that would almost freeze when skipping through it earlier, now it has no problem. i suggest the update if you guys dont have it already!
