My ex was "ethnic." Her family is from Italy, so there was no "western" humor in her upbringing. I joke around all the time, but she rarely joked back.

I had one of those.

A Basque Spanish goth. Totally fucking gorgeous (think Catherine Zeta Jones in heavy make-up) but also totally without humour/wit.

It ended with me going to Bilbao, having an argument with her, her telling everyone "Don't talk to the English Hells Angel" and me leaving 2 days early on my own.

Her clothes were in a bag on the door step when she returned.

She cried. No sympathy was given.

I know a girl from when I was about 22. We worked together one summer, and smooched a couple times, but that's all. She went on to become a hostess on a TV network. She was beautiful. Once, she came to town and invited my ex and I out to lunch. My ex said no. I went anyway. She was jealous. (Yeah, right. Like she was trying to steal me? She had her choice of men in Hollywood. It was truly only a visit.)

 

Oh, and her visa for staying in the UK was accidently posted to me.

I always forgave my ex for not being funny -- she had other assets that made me want to marry her -- at the time.
