    If you're ISP would provide you with a fiber optic wire then you can get up to 10 Gbit/s, that is a speed you will never get with wireless.

    Very, very, very few folks here in the USA have the option of direct fiber to their homes - some business, yes, especially if the business is willing to pay for the connection and will have tremendous bandwidth to pay for on a monthly basis - but, Bama would know much more about that than I.

    Our TV cable provider has a fiber backbone, but converts to shielded cable to their service drops.

    Are you referring to having wireless as your primary ISP? If so, then you're absolutely correct - there's no comparison is the wireless to "hard wired", it falls way short. I think Magge was talking about having a router in his house for his pc's but keeping the "hard wired" ISP. Or was I wrong?

    I don't know of any businesses around here much less homes. For now, the fastest you could get, which would cost an arm and a leg is T3 phone line. The actual speed is only somewhere in the mid 40's Mbps but the difference is it allows multiple threads on one line so in effect you something like 600 + connections downing or uppings at that 40+ Mbps rate if you're the only 1 transmitting and recieving.
