I dunno if 34 million albums can be compared to 100 million in sales because I doubt the albums sold for a dollar a piece.

Look X-Spectre, there is no comparison, I will give you this ....... there is no way to even begin to determine the success of Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn since thier early careers were at a time when no records were kept, or no accurate records.

Both were, and still are, Patsy Cline posthumously, extremely talented and successful country music artists.

Shania Twain has done really well not just in Canada and the US. She is a successful worldwide country music artist. One of her singles was in the top 100 in Germany for a year and a half. 12 of her singles were in the top 5 on the charts in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

There is no comparison, I withdraw my statement that Shania sold more of one album than Loretta and Patsy combined sold in thier careers, not because it is false, but because it cannot be proven. Especially if you start talking singles and concerts and music videos and stuff. My apologies to you for making a statement which could never be proven true or false.

 

I'd like to know one song that Patsy Cline wrote and I don't know about Loretta. Shania, is definitely a talented lady. Like they say, better to be hated, than to be laughed at. She's still the best in the modern era as far as I'm concern.

 

No one, or at least not I, are arguing that Shania isn't the top selling and 'best' female country singer of the modern era, I myself think she probably is too. Having said that it doesn't make any of what I said untrue... her voice while good IS very electronically enhanced and while she has sold extremely well overseas, most of her monetary success is due to the MUCH larger size of the U.S./Canadian market for country music.

As far as what songs has Patsy Cline written? I will just say this... not many, but, how many has Shania written? I know she has co-writer credits on a lot of her songs but then most artists today insist on this as it preserves their 'catalog' and keeps the residuals rolling in. Loretta Lynn is a whole 'nother kettle of fish, she has written/co-written at a conservative estimate 90 percent of all the songs she recorded and is well known as a song writer, If song writing is your gauge of success for a female country artist, I have 1 name for you... Dolly Parton (#1 all-time female single "I Will Always Love You" - Whitney Houston version) along with a HUGE number of other hits ALL with Dolly as the sole songwriter.
