yeah just waiting to find out when the boat will arrive tomorrow.

my Boss will fly home tomorrow to finish off the fuel that is being transfered there. I will do the transfer here.

800K litres of gasoline, 1.4 million litres of diesel.

will probably take me 10 to 12 hours to do the gasoline. then another 18 to 20 hours to do the diesel.

 

Are you mentally prepped for it?

 

oh yeah. I've gone over the tank farm with my Boss before. he asked if I wanted him to explain the procedures again. I asked him if I could go through the farm and explain to him how it was supposed to go through. I walked him through it the arrival of the boat, hooking up the lines, opening the valves, starting the transfer, monitoring it, shutting down then letting it settle for 12 hours then the paper work phase. got everything right so I'm ready.

then I will have to get some rest so they can offload the deck freight that is on the diesel barge. then we transfer the diesel fuel. then fly back to Cambridge when that is done.

going to be damn busy this trip.

 

That is the way to do it! When I was teaching drums, sometimes I'd ask a student to teach me what he just learned, to make sure he had it down.

 

it was cool. it's a hell of a job when you have to transfer that amount of fuel.

but if it's done right it can be done safely.

still, can be pretty fucking freaky at times too. especially on windy days when you are 11 meters up in the air.

I remember last year we were on the gas barge. we were up like 22 hours. technician I was with taking was going to take samples of each compartment on the barge. he opened up the Cam Lock on the barge, and WHOOOOOOOOOOOSH the cam lock goes flying into the air 30 feet and all the gas fumes come rushing out. he says in french "oooh yaa da vapoor"

I almost shit my pants.
