There are some pubs/bars here that serve authentic chips. It all depends on which restaurant/bar you choose.

Certainly not, that's something I've never come across before so you were clearly just unlucky. Our most well know breakfast is the full-English which is your eggs, bacon, beans, sausage, toast etc etc. If not that then it's normal stuff such as cereal.

Beans don't sound right for breakfast. Are they black, brown or green beans?

Do you not have baked beans over there? They're beans in a tomato sauce. They go perfectly with all the other stuff I mentioned. I suppose it's what you're brought up on so it's normal for me.

In the U.S. baked beans are very popular as a dinner side-dish. Most popular is probably "franks and beans," (hot dogs and baked beans), which is very affordable, too. I don't know any Americans who eat baked beans at breakfast. But, you get used to what you have grown up with.

Another popular use for beans is in chili. Also in Mexican food.

probably it's all a matter of getting used to, but over here in the Netherlands it's not really normal to eat a warm breakfast at all
