Viewing Vader purely on A New Hope, he's an awesome villain.

After that, he goes the way of most modern villains; he has a past, he has a redeeming quality. Not that it's bad in Empire and Jedi, it works fine.

But I wish someone would have a villain in sci-fi who doesn't have a single redeeming quality. Just vicious and cold. The Operative in Serenity is pretty damn close, till Mal `gets` to him.

Serenity was pretty good, but it lacked something. I'm not sure what. I didnt watch the series so that probably hurt my enjoyment a bit.

I refuse to count the new pseudo wars as part of star wars. Original had an epic feel; the new was a neighbourhood squabble.

Darth Vader was never a kid. We arent interested in seeing him as a kid. I still follow the old Vader theory put forth in the original fan club newsletter that he was a pirate like Solo, only he stayed amoral until the Emperor snatched him up.

    Vader as a toddler= Stewie
Vader as a child= Eric Cartman

Oh, watching the series adds a whole other dimension to it, especially with the relationships. Even more so with the deaths.

There was a fan-cut scene on youtube, I don't know whether it's still there.

It's the final scene of Jedi with the Emperor zapping Luke, with Vader just stood there, watching. This fan intercut stuff from all six films into flashes of Vader's mind, as Anakin retook control, remembering incidents of his past, Padme, his mother, killing Mace. It actually makes the scene much more effective.

Only one of the original remakes I liked was Empire. I thought it was better in the new. Star Wars, my friends dragged me out when Solo walked on Jaba. I had camped out for 3 days and nights to get sneak preview midnight screening tickets.

The theatre had to stop the movie 3 times to settle the crowd. 350 tickets and 2300 people showed up and wouldnt leave. You could say it was a hardcore crowd, and we were not pleased. I didnt get arrested though like some did. One guy went to jail for pissing in the isle before he walked out.

Yes, nuts, I know, but it's Star Wars.

What was your favorite alien series? aliens, predator, etc

    Aliens is a weird one.

I can't stand Alien, because I don't like horror films, and that's essentially what Alien is.

I ADORE Aliens, but that's a guns 'n' action flick. And the extended cut is sooo much better.

Hated it with a passion that built the further I got from the cinema. ;)

Abrams is a twat; `Here's your forty years of history, here's me pissing all over it and making up my own shit, nyah-nyah`

It was a decent enough sci-fi film, but an awful Trek movie. Tried to have it's cake and eat it too.

I will not be paying to watch the sequel, nor buying the DVD. The `odd-numbered` Trek theory holds up on that basis alone. ;)

Terminator Salvation was just as bad.

So many things wrong with that abortion, the tippy toe robot at the gas station being the main one for me.

They get a lot of shit, but I quite liked Voyager.

And DS9 started out badly, but as soon as Worf showed up and Sisko shaved his head, it got sooo much better. :D

'Cos Worf's all sorts of awesome.

As for alien vs aliens, I agree, I liked 2 much better than 1. Totally different movies though. Alien was good if for no other reason than it gave Ripley a good back story, and showed that she was always a bitch. She didnt became a total bitch because of her alien "trauma". She was cast iron before the accident on LL426. I never could buy the whole "cargo crew goes exploring" shit anyway. I loved the fact that in 2 they knew it was a bug hunt, they brought veteran bug hunters to deal with it, and got their asses kicked up around their ears anyway.

Have there ever been another two totally divergent films in a series?

Gods, I love Aliens. Just the whole thing, from start to finish. ;)

    there's only 1 terminator movie. 1

I iked the interplay between Quark and Jelloman(that's what I call him) but Cisco and nana visitor made me wanna join the Romulans to clean up those pesky hummies.

Voyager? oh come on man. nappy headed pseudo vulcans and a storyline dumber than lost in space. And Janeway just needed a good regular buttfuck to shut her up. Most constipated actor I've ever seen. 7 of 9 was good, but a total fluffer. And chakotay, Gaw what a wanker. If they had let him grow a pair it might be a bit of a Trekkie. ;)
