Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads.     Use a black background mat if your mag pages are thin.
    Keep your dpi big @ 1200 then reduce the dimension scale later to get really high quality stuff. Do your best to get the white balance as close as you can before you start editing.

    Those are the big tips that I was taught long ago by the big scanner guys.

    If you really want to learn, read some of the stuff on obsidiandawn.com, it's a great site for PS resources. I grabbed every new brush and pattern they have last night.

    I like 1200 because no matter what happens, i can always make the pic smaller, but scaling up is what gives us all these pseudo-HQ crap scans these days. My own scans and art i'm going to have printed always use max quality settings, biggest dpi the scanner will do, dimensions around 5000x5000, and 600-800 MB filesize. It's slow as hell, but after I scale it for monitors it looks fabulous.
