    Eh, there's no such thing as too high a res, just go into image properties and reduce the dpi to whatever your printer can handle and save it as a copy.

    district print shop has some 2400dpi flatbeds for posters, but I have to pay to use them.

    I guess the real print shops have 4800dpi now, but Ive never seen one.

    Mine is a lowly 1200. :cry: but I virtually never scan anymore. Everything is digital now.

    Scanning at 1600dpi...it even gave a warning!!!!
    Lets see..if the 4GB of RAM will pay off...

    Get a magnifying glass and look at your source pics, they dont look like a high quality print job to me. Is it a sealed glossy print (ala old GQ/bunnymag) or a normal book/mag(fhm/maxim)?

    You do have some scanner noise. Try to find out in the front of the book what settings the actual printer used, lots of times art books will say, then match your scanner settings to that
