    Yeah, I enjoyed the people I worked with. Half Germans, half "locals" from Karachi.

    This was back in 1992-1993 or so - was a few hundred km outside of Karachi working on the pre-planning of a hydroelectric dam. I would have loved to have toured the city a bit, but some of the people I worked with were held up by armed bandits before I got there.

    unfortunately these are the stories which generally give pakistan look worse than things actually are...i came back to pakistan after living abroad for 25 years...people wonder how and if at all i would adjust...its not good but it aint rwanda...

    I live in lahore and travel to Karachi frequently..City of night clubs, great eating places, ...

    Yeah.....but then, the same can be said for stories from any country, including Canada (where I currently live). One "bad" experience and the stories can get quite exaggerated. Personally, I am happy working anywhere, as long as I do not get pushed around by soldiers/police.

    I really did miss out on seeing Karachi. Everyone I know who has been there raves about it.
