  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

    They try to aswell over here Magge, but we got something called newsgroups. I pay around 7 euro a month and i can download unlimited movies, music and applications as lomg they follow the rules. The rules are quiet tight but it works, if someone doesn't follow them he get kicked out right away else it could be shut down.

    because people upload to a server, the so called news provider, and other people can download from the servers, so you dont download directly from each other. And there isn't a law that says that isn't allowed :)

    While newsgroups were not created with the intention of distributing binary files, they have proven to be quite effective for this. Because of the way they work, a file uploaded once will be spread and can then be downloaded by an unlimited number of users. More useful is that every user is drawing on the bandwidth of his or her own news server. This means that unlike P2P technology, the user's download speed is under his or her own control, as opposed to under the willingness of other people to share files. In fact, this is another benefit of newsgroups: it is usually not expected that users share. If every user makes uploads then the servers would be flooded; thus it is acceptable and often encouraged for users to just leech.
