  2. Our gif only content threads have a rule where all thumbs must be posted as a static thumbnail that does not play. Currently imagebam made a change where they no longer produce static thumbs. Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

Imagevenue has been used here since Day 1 and we don't get many complaints about it. We're not going to be banning it.

    Bump.

I don't enjoy being forced into pop-up ads, regardless of what host slips them to me. I remember how much I hate pop-ups every time I encounter hosts that use them. I can't even remember what the ad I was forced into was for, but I do know how much I hate the host for forcing me into the damn pop-up in the first place.

I wish contributors would actually stop to consider the inconvenience they cause the very people for whose alleged enjoyment they contribute material.

With some people it's almost as if the poor bastard that downloads their shit really doesn't matter to them, especially in the video forums. Some people figure everyone should just pay the $10 a month to play in their game.

Imagebam seems to be in maintenance many, many, times and for many many hours at each time! It's the only on I know that does that.

As for video hosts, spam is something that doesn't even crosses my mind! There are applications that download the videos hassle-free. I think some of these apps were announced by mods on the videos sections...

I use one of of those tools. If you consider taking five hours to get six 14MB files "hassle free", then I guess I get them hassle free from rapidshare. It is quite often hassle free to a slightly lesser degree.

Between the imposed 15 minute waits, and the endless loops of "free slots not available", which sometimes come intermittently even after the imposed 15 minute waits, rapidshare is a regular jihad.

I was a card carrying premium member of rapidshare for many years, but I would never use it at a host again. By the way, when you leave premium they convert all your existing links to 10 downloads.

I was even a premium member of Megaupload for two years, just so I could get all the links all at once and move on.

When I share, I usually give the recipient two download options, unless I know the file will get reported within hours of posting, then they get one. For some reason, someone always has a problem with a host, regardless of the host, so I came up with two that seem to narrow the prospect of leaving out part of the audience. It really doesn't take that much more effort to use two or more hosts.

I used Imagevenue as a host for years. There were far better hosts, but they all went out of business, so that left me going back to Imagevenue. I even got a warning for using Imagevenue in another forum after it was banned as a permitted host. I quit checking the rules every time I posted, so I missed the big announcement. After that, I apologize up front for using the crappy host I was allowed to use when I contributed media. All this was before Imagevenue started slipping you the pop-up.

I use a mass downloader and it works just fine! I'm a free registered user of Megaupload and, between downloads and uploads, I've transferred hundreds of files hassle free and with no unusual slow speed.

But, come on! What you want?! Nothing comes for free. You either pay one way or the other. That's the logical way of things.

...And, look it this way, you always have the choice to not download/upload files!

It's a bump thread, so what the hell;)
It is my choice. If it meant that much I'd pay the $10 a month extortion.

A few months back I encountered the most awesomest video hosting site in a new forum. I downloaded at least four score videos quick and easy as could be. I was so impressed with the host that I introduced it into another forum and asked for feedback. The first guy to respond said he had to register just to download, and the download speed was ridiculously slow.

After further investigation, and with the input of others who downloaded from the same link, it was determined that when downloading, what download page you were taken to depended on your geographic location. Some people got the quick and easy treatment. Others actually had to register, even though we all used the same link into the site. Only the one person said the download was slow.

Actual treatment from a host can vary depending on your region. influencing your opinions of the host.

    ^^

Right! And a small city on the western edge of Europe has excellent treatment! That influenced my opinion...

But whatever. The point is that no-one works for free (obviously)! So, if you want quality service, you mast pay one way or the other for someone to do a better job.
