this perplexed me for a while too. Here's what you do.

When you are saving the file, you MUST delete the extension before the ".001" whether it's "avi" or "wmv" or "mpg" or whatever when you are choosing what to name the file before you start d'loading it. Also, in the drop-down box below the box with the file name, you must select "all files" instead of whatever is currently in there, otherwise it won't work properly.

So the file name for this movie would be "mwhfesperanzaalec_2k.001" and the "save as type" would be "all files"

You only need to do this with the 001 files, the rest will work fine even if you leave the "avi" or "wmv" portion in the file name. And you can't do this after you have already downloaded the file, it doesn't work. And when you go to use HJ Split to join the files, you need to delete the "wmv" from all the other files as well (i.e. the 002, 003, etc. files) otherwise it won't join them properly. When you've joined the file and it's sitting on your hard drive, just rename it manually and add the ".wmv" after the file name and it'll work perfectly.

Actually, the explanation / solution posted above is not totally correct. Your browser should be able to save the .001 file fine (at least my standard install of FireFox does). The .001/2/3/4/5 extensions require HJsplit (google for it). Then the RAR that is created from that join process can be extracted as normal.
