Thank goodness I don't use anything with p2p (at least I don't think so) anymore.

once limewire started getting corrupt files around 5-7 years ago, stopped using that shit and I never dl torrents.

It's time to format reload. And when you get it back up and running, I'll help you guys with your software settings. There are a lot of easy steps you can do to make things run well for free.

If you're hearing a cross feed from someone else remote session that means they are using you live. Next time it happens call your isp and get their security guy. He can do tracerts on every network port and connection on your box to track them down. ISPs frown heavily on folks running pirate on their networks.

I don't back up anything on my desktop but I don't really have anything that would be a disaster to lose. Mind you, on another comp I had a hard drive failure and lost every sig I'd ever made, which was quite a lot.

If it was a hacker watching videos on my network then they had very strange taste. As I said it was a yoga spoof and also some kind of relaxation video. My hacker must have been a middle aged female hippy.

    :hi: Ess

P2P isnt really bad. You just have to be more sneaky and vicious than the other folks in the room. Want to use p2p but not get screwed?

Buy an old $50 pentium 3 system. set up a livecd of linux on it. hook up your nice new external harddrive on it. Plug it into your router for web access. put it in the dmz on the router. Start up a torrents engine on it. Download all the stuff you want.
All done? reboot and it's all gone because it ran from the cd, 95% of attackware is windows based, Linux wont write anything to the external drives but the files you told it to. if it's movies, burn them to disc on the same Linux system and you have clean movies with no extra windows hacks or drm.

I did exactly this for my boss years ago. Her husband moves a ton of movies and the system he downloads from doesnt even exist. ;)

the only thing that it found was that Assassin's Creed was acting up (I can't even play it) but it wasn't a trojan or anything. It just said something along the lines of Assassins Creed is trying to startup during "startup" but the file doesn't exist.

I bought it from steam installed it, and then uninstalled it. I guess some stuff didn't completely uninstall. I guess that was the only problem.

That makes a lot of sense. Personally I try to avoid torrents as much as possible, although they can be very useful.
