    actually Springsteen wrote the song & then Patti Smith added/changed some lyrics when she recorded it. She gets a writing credit on HER version of the song - not the original song. ;)

    No worries -you're still a winner my book my friend. :D

    "The original song was recorded by Bruce Springsteen during sessions for his Darkness on the Edge of Town album. The Patti Smith Group was working on Easter in the studio next door, with engineer/producer Jimmy Iovine working on both albums. Iovine gave Smith a tape of the song, she recast it from a female perspective, and it was included on Easter, becoming the first single release from that album."

    yeah, except it's supposedly pronounced "SAH-tahn", not the evil "SAY-ten". As a hockey player, I'd rather have it evil sounding but that's me.
