    I have a 5.1 system and something is overheating inside the base that makes the rear speakers scrape really bad. then I have to turn them off for until that ??? is cooled down, then they work again!

    Huh, new one on me. Well, if your speakers convert 110 ac to 12v dc you have a lot of options. fans at 40-120 mm are cheap as dirt these days.
