Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads.     When you upload an avatar over the UserCP it normally gets converted and in many cases the quality gets much much worse and i totally could understand it if this would fuck up the transparent background.
    Simply ask an admin/mod if he can upload it via Admin/Moderator CP.

    Why? Just use a host like imagehost.org and use the url you get from them and paste that into your User CP

    Hm yeah well, i have never done it that way. I always uploaded the pic from my pc. Right now i really wonder why i never used the other method when i expierenced these dificulties by uploading the pic directly to phun.

    I guess its because on the mosts boards either i am staff so i do it myself or i know staff members so i ask them to do it. :p

    I just tried that, file was too large...so I assume I have to resize it manually first?

    When you use the User CP, it resizes the image automatically for you
