Halak is even not a playoff goalie and he's standing against some of the greatest players for now.

Things like that can happen. Wings players get old, they need new players for the next draft for sure.

 

They keep coming in the top 2-6 positions. They can't get the great draft choices. That's a problem with many winning seasons in a row. The insiders tonight said they're looking for youth for the next season to learn from the veterans on the team.

 

Osgood did that a few years ago for the Wings.

 

I'm just bummed out that they lost. I've been a fan all my life.

 

You know your team can't win all the time... thanks you don't live in Montreal. Some fans here are totally lunatic.

 

I know about the Montreal fans. You may know that the Detroit fans love the Wings too (they call us Hockeytown).

When your team wins for many years you get used to it and then you expect it to happen every year. That's problem in Detroit and it's still a problem for many Habs fans.

 

Yeah... but 24 cups, it's always a valuable argument for that... being a winning team.

 

Montreal had some great teams.

 

Yeah, the old dynasty with Savard, Lapointe, Robinson and more. But those times are over. Same with Gordie Howe or Bobby Orr with Boston and Bobby Hull with Chicago.

 

Gordie Howe would have succeeded in any sport. He was one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century. We're lucky he played hockey here in Detroit.

 

Gordie Howe trivia: His wife, Colleen, made all his business decisions. She approved all his contracts. Gordie never had to pay an agent!

 

And after playing hockey he became a great friend of Jean Beliveau

Howe was assisting to the Century match. Three players were presented by NHL stars or actor.

Serge Savard was the last one entering and presented Patrick Roy. Viggo Mortensen did for Guy "Démon Blond/Flower" Lafleur and Gordie Howe did the same for Jean "Gros Bill" Beliveau. The greatest Habs captain.

 

Mickey Redmond settled here in Detroit to live after he retired. He is the TV commentator for the Red Wings (Ken Daniels from the CBC is the main announcer), and tells many stories about his Montreal days as well as his Detroit days.

Well, my generation sure got good players but some nice "actors" (Sidney Crosby as best example).

 

That's a good question! I don't know. But if any player has a goal and a fight, they always say, "All he needs is an assist for a Gordie Howe hat trick!"
