I'm in the USA - San Francisco to be exact.

So is all the hullabaloo about the prime minster election done now? It seemed a bit comical (at least from the warped portrayed perspective from The Daily Show ).

Quite true - it's kinda a bit disappointing that US actors seem to have a harder time doing an English accent while English actors have almost no trouble doing an "American" accent. :scratchchin:

Yup; finally put it to bed. I enjoy watching The Daily Show; John Stewart is an excellent satirist.

A good benchmark for Americans doing English is swearing. If they can nail `bastard` and `wanker` in a convincing fashion (the aforementioned Paltrow and Claire Danes do this very well), everything else falls into place.

But US TV does seem to be awash with British, Irish, Australian and New Zealander actors, doesn't it? More often then not playing American as well. `FlashForward` was a peculiar example of that. Non-American actor heavy, which wasn't bad in the acting terms, just...notable.

 

I thought it was nice of Hillary to point out that the US political system is essentially a loose coalition of sorts.

Still takes a little getting used too.

 

The best... but also, the show is great for a younger generation of Americans to at least be somewhat updated on current US events. Though I guess that's also a sad indication on how deplorable US news reporting has become.

More than notable, several US major TV shows are led by - what I like to call - "accented English" actors.
I personally noticed this "shift" in the HBO World War II mini-series "Band of Brothers". It was weird to see the main highlighted US Airborne soldier, Dick Winters, being portrayed by an Englishman (Damian Lewis).

Stewart, and satirists in general, bring information wrapped in humour and a cock-eyed view. But they still bring that information, which enables the willing to actually find out more.

Well, my back's not fully back up to snuff, so I figure I'd do what I always do on a Sunday; plot to take over the world.

Yeah, I was somewhat miffed when they canceled that show... I didnt' see past season 2, but I liked it quite a bit. Plus his partner was freakin' hot. :knockedout:

I actually should be going to bed in the next 10 minutes... I have a tennis match in about 6 hours and it wouldn't do any good if I was sleep deprived.

That and meeting up with some old college friends visiting in town. Should be a nice lazy Sunday.
