I really don't understand the actual problem, because in my country we don't speak English in general. So
Could anyone explain to me in an easy way why there is a problem with Rapidshare and why are there the new downloaders (sharingmatrix and hotfile).

This is just my 2 cents worth:

I think the big problem people have with Hotfile and Sharingmatrix is the concept that posters can make money off of these filehosts. What most people do not know, however, is that at one time you could earn money on rapidshare (they did have a program where you could redeem your rapid points and premium points for cash; it has since been discontinued) and you CAN earn money using megaupload as not only do you redeem their rewards for free premium time, but if you save your points up to a minimum of 100,000, you can also start to get money when you cash those points in. In the last 2 years myself, I've earned $500 from megaupload.

My thought is real simple; now that hotfile is allowed here, I will be using it exclusively. It cuts down on my upload time (had to upload to 2 different hosts before; one for just here and one for everywhere else I post) which cuts down on my time of not having an internet connection to do anything else. I think, however that people who register should have to make so many posts before they can start new thread or start posting links. This should reduce the amount of B.S. traffic drastically.

 

Both hotfile and sharingmatrix are besttttttttt

I hope phun is ready for the Sharing Matrix promo for the weekend. This should really give the forums new servers a test! My guess is with all the SM post, not only this forum, but other big forums will be overloaded, and will CRASH!

 

Wow.This is getting out of hand.Now I'm stuck at RS account with lesser few links on RS nowadays..

 

there are a few things that bother me (and others...):

a flood of "copy/paste"-threads from other boards are occuring. we are not going to allow a single of these questionnable imagehosts people use at other boards - threads with unapproved imagehosts will only add to phun´s trashbin.

pple with 20-50 links to hf/sm - hosted files.

a flood of 3-5MB - files. easy money, hm?!


make up your mind, things like this can easily change our policy again.

 

With the new change to the RS policy, I am considering changing to a new file host system. I was leaning to hotfile but if it's going to be banned from here maybe I should wait a while and see what you guys decide on.

 

Its good that HF and SM is allowed now, but you need to add some more restrictions,if you look at many other boards, then you will see that Rapidshare is not that popular anymore for uploaders because of all their changes in the past.

 

Any suggestions?

 

-Poster need to be registered since 3 months
-Poster needs to have at least 100 Posts on phun
-File must be at least 50-100MB big
-Only 10 Threads per day not 15
-Thread Title needs to have (RS/SM/HF/MU... so everybody can see on which host he uploaded.

May I add a little remark about putting the host in the thread title?

Case 1: I see that several threads get merged because a reposter did not use the search properly. Once 2 threads are merged, the host indication in the thread title is not accurate anymore.

Case 2: If a poster, who did use the search properly, adds mirror links as a reply to the original post, again the host indication in the thread title is not accurate anymore.

In case 1 you could think of the moderators changing the thread title, because they do the merge (= more work for the moderators), but I don't have an immediate solution for case 2.

 

1. For Hotfile And Sharingmatrix only megathreads allowed.
2. Only user allowed to create 10 megathreads and all post goes there.
3. Each reply made after 1 hour by same user.
4. File Size should be greater than 100 MB

I see this rules on some board. And their is no garbage of multiple post in 1st and 2nd page with only hotfile.com and sharingmatrix.com

 

The problem here is that most of the people has just one premium account (usually RS or MU) but with a lot of hosts will be difficult to download, specially from SM, that host is sloooowwwwww

 

My only dispute would be that there are some real fine amateur post in the 15 - 50 Mb range.

 

This may be going too far, I'm not sure what people would think about it, but what about a new section, kind of a wild west section, where people could post their amateur, small files, not well labeled stuff. Then create a new rule for this section that everything that goes here should have the name of the star and the name of the site/movie that the scene is from. That would weed all that stuff into a separate section. I dunno, people probably wouldn't like it but I think it would work
