    There is no set date for retirement in the USA as many retirement plans are private or not a part of the Federal Government. The Federal Social Security, a partial retirement plans we all must pay dearly into, also has a variable retirement age depending on when you were born. For me, that would be 66 and a half for full benefits. In 18 months, I will file for SS at age 62 which means my monthly payment will be reduced 25%, but I will need the money.

    Here everyone is incurred to the state mandatory so they can get health benefits and such....*you can have private also if you want*....and if you and to retire earlier you lose some percent for your pension.
