oh no...it's an anime. I really hate anime

 

I was supposed to work tonight but I stayed home. My knees are racked up.

 

So you and I are the only 2 people in the world who don't like anime.

 

Yeah, I had forgotten her name, I talk about her a few weeks ago here, as I heard she had pictures as a redhead, but noone on this thread seemed to know her at the time.

Cool to see someone that finally recognise her.

Not a fan of that type of anime, but I am a fan of quality anime. Curious PM and Firefly, did you guys not like Robotech or the Transformers cartoon?

 

Because I used to paint and sketch, I really appreciate what goes into anime. But, even with the talent it takes, I just don't like the final product.

I didn't see them. The only animation I watch is Family Guy. Not on purpose -- that's the way it works out.

 

Trust me I'm not into anime much either, but this one is great.

The only two other anime that I watch and liked, but not as much, was Blood+ which had a movie come out about it not to long ago (the movie not animated), and Full Metal Alchemist. Full Metal was cool for the alchemy but I think it went to long, so that is my list favorite out of the 3.

Those 3 animes was the only animes I watch complete since I was a kid. Well I almost gave up on Full Metal.

Watching Noein was like discovering the show Dexter, I inhaled the show so to speak, I couldn't stop watching.

 

I never watched Robotech, and I don't consider the 80's Transformers to be anime

 

Here's the plus-side to all of this: At least people are enjoying some kind of animation. Instead of dying out, it has flourished.

 

Full Metal is decent TV show anime - it has the usual cutesy anime stylings that can be annoying, but there's enough story depth to make it interesting.

 

Trust me this is not a ordinary anime, it has a complex story.

Is like a puzzle that it fits perfectly, at the end with no missing pieces.

The show is complete, it doesn't need what happen before, or a what happen after. Starts at the right spot, and ends on the right spot.

Is probably to complex for kids, but a kid could still enjoy it, as it got plenty of comic relief. And as half of the main characters are kids they can relate to it.

Is a wonderful show.

 

No agreed... Transformers isn't generally thought of as anime, but it has enough similarities (robots, decent animation, semi-serious story drama) that I think you would like quality anime.

I think the issue with animation in Japan is ALOT of it is used as a marketing device for Japanese toy and video game manufacturers to market their products. I would say about 75% of the anime is like that, which makes it pretty crappy.

There are, however, standouts and to me, it's those animes that mix music and a distinct style that I really enjoy. Two examples:

Samurai Champloo - Feudal samurai sword action, well-animated, and hip-hop background tunes. Dope. :678:

Cowboy Bebop - Regarded as the "coolest" anime ever. Space bounty hunters, smoke-filled rooms, lots of blues and jazz. This opening itself should make you want to watch it:

A live-action version movie is planned by Hollywood (supposedly headlined by... wait for it... Keannu Reevs).

 

I watched about 6 minutes of it on youtube...couldn't watch anymore

I think the plot drag for to long though, but yes the story was interesting, and the alchemy was cool.

I think it would have being better if they packed the whole thing more.

Blood+ was the opposite, I wanted to see more.

Noein was perfect.

 

Both of those actually look good. I always meant to give Bebop a try cause I heard of how good it was, even if it was an anime, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet

I didn't think much of Firefly for the first episode, I bought the show like I told you after watching the whole thing, as I liked a lot, I got my sister to watch the first episode but she wasn't interest in commit with the rest, as she was not convinced that was going to be a good show. I commit the same mistake when I just watch just the first episode of Invasion and gave up, only to later give a chance and being one of my favorite show ever, and find out I was included on the reason of only have one season.

You should know what that is like as your beloved Firefly suffer the same fate.
