    sorry but thats cookie talk.
If you got a virus then you have my sympathies but to accuse a host of hosting viruses cos you do not like it is silightly ridiculous.
If someone is posting files with viruses then they could do it with any host and it would seem rather stupid of them to use a host everyone hates and refuses to download from.

just out of curiosity, what the fuck is cookie talk? And I don't make baseless allegations without proof. As I stated, I completely understand why the mods made this move and have nothing bad to say about them or the decision. I am however, quite free to express my opinions on the matter, as a registered contributing member of this forum, as to what I think on the subject. I stated that more than one virus was directly linked to files hosted on SM and knowing that there are many suck stories out there about this host, that's why I said I won't be using them. I wasn't asking for permission or feedback...I was making my thoughts on the subject known and was explaining why I made the decision I did....but thank you for your valued imput.

    You not watch Seinfeld?

Like I said I am sorry you got a virus, and if you got it from a file hosted on SM then it is the uploader not the host that is to blame. Think about it, guy wants spread a virus and he chooses a host that no-one likes and less people will download, again it would make no sense. Second time I have made that point and the last if I am honest, and it is a logical one for that matter.
I have no problem people stating their opinion on a host, knock yourself out.

AVG isn't particularly good - if you surf for porn you need something better. I use Kaspersky which is excellent imo.

I find it hard to believe you are getting infected due to porn stemming from SM links. The movies extracted should have standard extensions AVI WMV MPG do they not? If anything you might get infected from the pic host - Kaspersky warns me at times about that. The pic hosts approved here though are good - admin picked them for a reason. Do you surf other sites that approve other pic hosts?

I am going to bet an appendage that if I ask you for an SM link that leads to a virus you will not have one.

It just COULD be that the extracted files have multiple files within them including the movie and then 'something extra' don't you think? I've seen this happen MANY times, not saying that's definitely what happened but it IS possible.

Well of course. If he comes back to me saying - yes there was a WMV and an EXE then we have our answer. I would think he would be clever enough not to click an EXE (?). I cannot recall ever seeing that myself and I download enough porn to make my eyes bleed.

Out of curiosity what anti virus do you use?

Anti virus progs often consider (mistakenly) game/prog cracks and keygens harmful files and quarantine them.
Though I don't think these 48 files were all this kind of stuff.

It doesn't have to be based on fact, that's why it's called an opinion

o·pin·ion - A belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.

again silly think to say, he is in possession(unlike you) of the knowledge of how fileshosts were chosen and stated his point.

Racism is an opinion not based on fact, that make it valid?

This thread is getting a little daft now, if people want to moan about a host, fine but do not strech things beyond the plausibe.

It really does not help your cause.

I was under the impression that this thread was for posting concerns and/or opinions about the recent change in hosting sites and not for deriding and attempting to belittle or "call out" a member who is posting their concerns about said hosts. Had I been aware I was going to have to provide proof of life or give a fuckin DNA sample in order to have my opinions validated by a couple of smart-asses, I would have simply not posted anything. But, again, being a member, I felt I could post without worrying about two nut holes trying to gang-up and out do one another with clever witticisms at my expense.
I'm glad I have your permission to post. I intended it as a way to convey my own personal experience with a host so that others could be aware...simple as that. I wasn't asking for input or to be put through a fuckin inquisition. I'm certain, that in your infinite expertise in these matters, you probably know so much more than the rest of us. So I won't waste your time explaining the literally thousands of ways viral code is attached to a myriad of file types, or how it is often embedded in the the compression hierarchy used to create the .rar files that are often used for upload, as this would be almost trivial to you. But to the rest of us, who want to know what to be wary of so that we can draw our own conclusions, we rely on gathered information to make our own informed decisions. The fact that something might seem obvious to you, like an individual using a host to upload files, is mute. That's a big no shit right there. I never said the HOST was uploading virus material, but at this point, I don't give a rats purple gnarled ass about this anymore. Unless an admin tells me I'm not allowed to post my opinions or concerns, I'll keep doing so and if you two queefsters want to keep jacking each other over what I said, well...have at it. Otherwise, get the fuck over yourselves.

Perhaps stated a bit tough but I have to say I see his point. MY point about a virus being downloaded 'riding' an archived movie is just the one FooFoo made in this post, a virus CAN be embedded in the compression or attached in other ways where you would never see it much less have to 'click' on something to activate it.

Even if said SM files were wrapped with trojans and malware, they can only infect your pc if you activate them (html, .vbs, .js etc or double extension files filename.avi.exe). Try not to be so careless in the future.

P.S. - Get a real antivirus like NOD32 or Kapersky

Damn it you had me convinced - I waited all day for the link - I even put a pinch of salt on my left leg.

Although you have our permission to post - I think I speak for both of us when I suggest you refrain from posting on this subject or anything else that requires a modicum of intelligence. I mentioned this to Specter in another thread - I agree SM has some issues. Unfortunately people like you spew out an endless stream of nonsense which does not help the 'ban SM' cause - it hurts it. There are a great many evils in the world - not all of them stem from SharingMatrix no matter what people may say.

Hmmm... can it infect your PC if you don't click it? I suppose they work in a variety of ways - I remember being surprised when I viewed a picture online and got an attack - the pic was harmless of course - I guess there are scripts on the sites that attack the PC. This happens a lot in my experience - this is what prompted me to PAY (!!!) for Kaspersky - not an issue since.

If the poster had said he gets phishing attempts using SM links I could believe it - I have seen that a lot with RS where they try to obtain your password. As for viruses I see them on newsgroups and Torrents for things like key generators - never seen one archived in a porn link online myself using SM RS HF or anything else.

As I understand it, there ARE viruses which can be embeded within the archive file which are activated on unpacking, I have no DIRECT knowledge if this is true but I've been told it is.
