What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

I seriously don't see the deal about all the complaints about HF and FS, i get download speeds at 150-300 kb/s with them (no premium) plus most of the time i download ONE file that's ready to play instead of 3-4 rar files at Rapidshare (with 15 minutes wait between each.) I used to have great speeds with MU around 1MB/s but now i only get 100-200 kb/s with a premium account. Fileserve sucks big time for me as i only get around 50 kb/s.

From an uploaders pov both HF and FS are great as i get around 2 MB/s upload speed with ftp and they both pay good, which also could be negative as that encourages people to spam and upload a lot of garbage, but that's what moderators are for right?

 

I haven't read the whole thread but I signed up with FileSonic's $25 90 day premium subscription but have yet to get any login information and download using the premium service. Has this been an issue? I have contacted them three times with no response. I will have to file a claim with Paypal (within 45 days) if I don't hear back from them.

 

Yep... heard a lot of that in here, at least when FS was still Shitmatrix, just read back through some of the posts.

Maybe I still do not have the right to "vote" on this forum because I signed up few days ago... but what the heck...

I've been using RS since 2007 mostly for downloading, and after two years, when my collection of amateur clips reached about 100 DVd discs, I've decided to share the finest materials... I've uploaded on RS almost 1000 clips of aproximately 50 gigs, and it took me months since my upload speed is only 12kbs (My ISP)... I've managed to share about 200 clips and the rest of it was on RS waiting for its time.
Can you imagine my rage when I discovered that only 120 clips survived RS June changes... I was on my vacation and I didn't know what was going on...

Rapid points system was ok because I could afford myself infinite premium account thanks to the files I share and that was OK with me, didn't want more...

The next thing was to move to HF because it was the second popular amongst porn lovers (Don't like MU because my uploads often ends up as broken, files unaccesable...).

I am working with HF for almost two months and it's quite good with me. Personally, I would like to know how much money one can earn on HF, because I earn about 20$ a month and that's enough to buy me HF premium and MU premium, and that's it...

From my own perspective, the main problem on most of file sharing forums are the people with autoposters that's flooding with same posts on every forum. The posting policy here is quite good, but 15 posts a day is maybe too much. Five to ten in video section is quite enough. Some quality posters may be rewarded with increasing of this number, but this is up to admins.

Do some search and see how many sites, blogs, etc are offering "lot of money" on HF, SM, FS and others teaching people to remote upload other people's files and then spread them with autoposters. They always show "proof" of payment (photoshoped, of course)...

Rewards are great, but one can't earn that much. Maybe I'm too old, but I still remember 80's when we shared music tapes via classic mail or copied them on those old double decked tape recorders.

So, my point is - rewards are great, but do not forget the old spirit of sharing just for fun.

the reality is that as RS becomes more inaccessible, only the other crappy one like Hf and SM come into play.In time they will take over because they might get better but for me, i have been uploading and downloading for years now and MU has always been my favorite.I have tried the rest but i have not been impressed by any of them. If i had a choice, i would never use HF or SM but ...choices are limted thesedays and MU is my champion

 

filesonic is the worst piece of crap ever, I have NEVER been able to download a single file that's hosted by them.

yup they are, I use them but have not got premium right now, I used to just buy one month membership with what i earned but the site is a mess now and you cannot do it and I think that if you in UK you just cannot use them at all, lots of post on forums with people who bought accounts and had to file Paypal disputes against them.
The irony is for me I get good speeds now(300kbs) which is great for non premium.

Problem for me with them is they just never respond to emails, apparently you have to join their ICQ? I do not know what that is lol.

what is a good site to use?

Hotfile?
Megaupload?

 

With JDownloader, filesonic works just as well for me as any other hoster

Everyone who joins Phun has the right to their opinions - it's the ill-informed, unintelligent, ignorant and plain dumb that I frown upon. :mrgreen:

I was lucky that I kept most of my files on both Rapidshare and Megaupload, so when Rapidshare went all to hell with their new policy, I didn't lose a whole lot. That said, because of their storage policy and their increased vigilance to delete "shared" files, I personally don't use Rapidshare that much, if at all.

As to the posting policy here, I agree 15 per day might be a bit much and maybe should be changed to 15 in a 24-hour period. Then again the cashspammers that are taking advantage of Phun probably have 2 or 3 additional accounts here, so even if the thread posting count was limited to 10, they would just jump on their other accounts and post away.

Anyways, sharing still remains fun here at Phun only because, thankfully, quality threads and posts are still appreciated by the majority of members here who recognize the quality and/or work of a good post or thread. Most of the low-quality threads and reposts are ignored and/or taken care of by the mods... for the most part anyway. It just takes a little more work to find the good stuff from the quality posters.

Best piece of advice I can recommend to find quality posts/posters is if you like a thread, make sure to put a nice reply. Not only is it appreciated, but it also makes it easier to search for stuff - either the same content or from the same poster.

 

I agree largely with that, its really clear that some people have multiple accounts but how is 15 per day different to 15 in a 24hr period? Confused me that one lol. Somewhere between 5-10 is morethan enough imho.

Its sad that new posts with NEW material just get lost, seriously its really hard to find them now. You get lots of replies lol cos people have been grabbing your stuff for years and appreciate all you do here. Mere mortal like myself get pissed off when I post something and it is on page 6 in 2 minutes, swamped by reposts and people just posting OLD vids they probably uploaded a long time ago(before HF etc was allowed here) and they are just copy pasting from other forums. You have people that have been here less than a month and their stats are through the roof, - now thats not 'contributing to community forum', its SPAMMING period.

I always thought they should close registrations when they allowed these hosts, some people show a lot of effort in forum issues reporting as much crap as they can, but its a battle that can't be won really. I know I do not have time.

Just to throw in my 2 cents worth.

I am currently downloading, as in this minute one file from rapidshare at about 650kb/s and one file from Hotfile at 55kb/s. I'm based in Europe.

Both are premium accounts. I've had rapidshare for at least 6 months and they have always had good download times. If HF is the alternative I think the internet might just die....

Heh... it really depends where you are. As you're in Europe, RS should be faster for you (RS is based in Switzerland, I think). HF servers are in Panama City. I'm in the Western US, so HF is faster for me than RS, though not by much (150kb/s on HF, 100kb/s on RS)

Yeah, they had some server errors earlier today, but looks like HF links are working back to normal now. I'm surprised it isn't happening more frequently with all the filehosts, now that most uploaders have moved away from RS, Megaupload, Hotfile, and Sharingmatrix/Filesonic are definitely getting more traffic, so more connectivity problems may occur in the future as those filehosts get more and more traffic.

 

i use mainly MU but in some places, they are slow as i hear. Hosts vary because of location and internet service sometimes. In Russia fro isntance, Rapidshare works fine in moscow but outside MU prevails in Speed.In KSA MU edges RS but not in riyadh. In Thailand for now HF seems to be the best whereas in close by Malaysia SM was descent enough(don't know lately though)
