What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

I think you need to log out first, then you will get the link. If you are logged in you get an error message.

 

They hired some very lousy webpage desigers to revamp the layouts

no skills and no taste.

The result is an ugly mess, they couldn't even keep
the cookies persistant, even though it's checked.

have they even tested it?

They are stupid ass web designers everywhere, even with
those big companies. almost all the big websites layouts are
a mess.

Google search has a clean look, and that's one
of the reasons for their success.

BTW, since the RS revamp just a few days ago,

IE6 can no longer download from RS as a free user,
It seems to be stuck on register page in stead of download page.

anybody comfirm this ?

 

Outside of their new look - which I agree, is cumbersome and a bit on the ugly side - I think the bigger problem is that they've INCREASED the price per month to host files. With the initial change to their "Rapids" system, they were charging 99 Rapids per month. Now they're charging 495 Rapids per month. They are giving you more default storage space (50GB versus 20GB in the old system) but 495 Rapids is A LOT when you consider it costs 8 US dollars for 500 Rapids.

Essentially, I applaud any uploader who uses RS as their regular hoster, but quite soon RS won't be very viable to use at all.

 

I have about 5500 rapids in my account from the old days.
I thought that would be enough for many years to come, but with the increase of 500% per month, I only have enough for 11 months.

About the layout, I don't like it either. I prefer a simple and fast layout.

It's a real shame what gone down with Rapidshare from #1 to nothing

 

I have been going through my RS stuff and deleting files that have not seen any activity in 30 days, or more.

But, in addtion to the shity new lay-out (direct d/l's are no longer possible), it seems, you can only delete 1 file at a time, or delete everything.

At that cost, I'm thinking the latter.

 

Looks like the newest trick is to upload chunks to filesonic which are to large for free users so you must buy a FS account if you want them? Thank you very much for that...:roll:

 

I couldn't remote upload from RS to HF using my rapid premium the last few days,

it's hitting the 0 seconds mark, registering a download and then not downloading all day

 

Just tried a megaupload link... the "download to" windows box does take longer to show up than usual, but it's showing up for me to download properly. Might just be a Megaupload hiccup - give it an hour or so.

 

I just don't understand rapidshare at all any more. I mean, it was never exactly "simple" but now it's just horrible.

It's as if they've made it as difficult as possible to do anything. All the points systems, subscriptions, trafficshare etc. It seems like they're trying to confuse and disguise the fact that they've jacked up their prices.

Why can't they have simple packages:
$xxx = xxxGb/month
$xxx = unlimited

etc etc?

I still have rapids left, but I probably won't be getting any more when they're used up.

I can only confirm that i couldn't access my RS prem accounts with IE 6,
neither dl as free user..

i solved this trying out firefox and opera as free browsers..both work !

Both HF and FS are shit right now. They both DL about half of a file and then stop dead.

 

I'm trying to find a solution to my problems with filesonic. I use JDownloader and the automatic captcha doesn't work. It gives you a few seconds to write down the code, so I guess what happens is that it all starts again.

Anyone has the same problem with filesonic?

Have you tried using a different browser? If it doesn't work in IE, try FireFox or another one.

However for me yesterday, MUL was messed up. I had several files that were N/A, but later in the evening it worked fine.

 

If you upload a 91 MB file to RS , It will shows the file as 93 MB in size

because they think 1 MB = 1000K , but it's already 1024k in fact.

so they take 91 x 1024= 931840

This just shows you how stupid those RS web designers are..

Have they even tested the new design ?
