What's Up With Rapidshare? + New File Hosts

Alright, it's Friday - early off of work and time for a real bitchfest. :angryfire:

I've tried to be as "fair and balanced" when it comes to discussing the filehost issues... but not anymore after my recent Filesonic experience.

As a little history - I've only had premium membership to two other filehosts - Rapidshare (through their point system) and Hotfile (purchased a 1 month trial). Never had problems with either in using their premium services.

So, I had found a download I really wanted earlier last week, where there were 7 Filesonic links to download. With a resigned sigh, I decided to purchase a 1 month premium membership to Filesonic. Here's how my experience goes:

1) After an hour of not receiving any email confirmation or login/password information, I email Filesonic about that problem

2) After 3 hours of not receiving any email confirmation or login/password information, I email Filesonic about that problem again, calmly asking them for some type of response soon.

3) A day later, Filesonic emails me with a curt message of "Please send me you t payment transaction ID." I shoot an email back to them of the exact payment transaction ID a couple hours later with a reminder that it has been nearly 24 hours since my purchase and have YET to receive any type of info.

4) An hour later, I get this message:

"The email [[email protected]] cannot be located in our databases. Please create an account under a different email address and I will provide you with premium access to that account. We apologize for the inconvenience."

To which I email back, with a little aggression in my typing, asking them why they couldn't use the current email address right now, especially since I've provided proof of the transaction? I know it might be a little picky of me, but I don't really feel like creating another new email account... is it too much to ask to use the same email account they've been corresponding with AS WELL AS it is the original email account I used to purchase the premium service? That said, I ask them to do just that and if they couldn't to please refund me the transaction.

5, "the kicker") 8 hours later, I get this - what I think will be the final email from Filesonic:

"You will need to make the refund request through the payment processor you initially used to purchase your premium account."

Now, I suppose that's sorta reasonable - but as good business goes, I figured with the annoyance I've went through the most BASIC common sense gesture would be for Filesonic to refund me. In order to get a refund, I have to go through ANOTHER party?!? To which I semi-quote from the classic 80's flick "Better Off Dead":

Actually, here's the real kicker: in that 30+ hour duration, I actually finished grabbing that download I wanted using free download options from Filesonic. :angryfire:

I would rather trouble myself in searching for alternative download links on google rather than using Filesonic ever again. It annoys the shit out of me that I need to include Filesonic links in my threads to prevent cashspammers from nixxing my other download links.

So in essence, fuck Filesonic.

Man that is sooooo horrible. Sorry you had to go through that Mokki. You would think by now those fuckers would have their business together. Personally, as I have said in a previous post, I have never been able to download anything from that host as a free user ( except maybe 1 or 2 times out of dozens of tries ). I would have considered becoming a premium member, and maybe even providing [FS] mirrors for files that I upload, but I refuse to use a host that I cant get to work on a regular basis. Not to mention, the complaints from others similar to what you say you just went through. I understand that now its reasonable to include a mirror from them in order to keep spammers from remote uploading your links and posting mirrors, but I still refuse to use filesonic until I am able to get them to work on a regular basis. Its such a shame that they cheat good people out of money for premium accounts, and then shit on them as a customer service reply! :thumbsdown:

 

Damm I know they have had a lot of problems but thought they were sorting themselves out, I get 300kbs as free with filesonic, occationally I buy 1 month account and take the money I have earned with them to pay for it, have to say its instanatious.
Never bought with Paypal and I guess I will not given that story

Have tried that many many times, I only get the links have expired message, or some other crazy message. It worked once or twice and then just quit working. Either way its just too much of a hassle to keep trying and not getting it to work. Why cant they just be like normal host and you be able to download after waiting the normal waiting period. They have been around long enough now to have their shit together. Personally, I wouldnt recommend anyone use them until they get the service so that people can download with out having to jump through hoops. EX. buy premium acc., use jdownloader, etc.

Dont think so, I have no trouble downloading from HF, MU, RS, Deposit, Onron, fileserve, nor any others. Thats why when ever I see a file that I want posted on filesonic now, I just dont bother. I just go to google and do an advance search for the same file on a different host. If its a new video, I search for the video name + host + thread. This or a similar combination almost always come up with the same video on a host that works for me.

 

Well not one to not give something my best try, so I just attempted to download a file from filesonic as a free user again. Im using a firefox browser. Waited the 1 min count down, typed in the capache words, click the download button, then got a new page with this message:

You can not access this page directly. Please use the website to start your download or contact us in case of problem.

If the problem persists, clear your cookies and try again.

And now, for the last two days, fileserve doesn't work for me, either. I keep retyping correct captchas over and over again, sometimes refreshing it to get a completely clear one, and over and over again I keep getting the message "incorrect captcha." And oddly enough, since they remade themselves a while back, I've not had any trouble with filesonic--.

 

And here we go again with another "crazy" Filesonic promo this week:

So no one should be surprised if a mass amount of FileSonic[FS] threads show up on SVF this week. :|

 

Im all for uploaders getting a benefit for their work, but damn this has crossed the line. This type of promotion just influences spamming!

 

I refuse to download anything hosted on filesonic. If I see something I want it someone has hosted on filesonic, I'll Google it and find it on another host.

The only way to get people to stop using filesonic is to stop downloading their links. :2cent:

 

I personally do not like blaming hosts, but more posters, forum is being spammed with old vids but what can you do about that apart from report, megathreads are full of renamed reposts yadda yadda yadda.
If filesonic were not around they would just post HF, I do think forum needs to change rules somewhat like other sites, properly naming vids is essential, 'lexi belle sucks a huge cock' really is not enough imho. All those posts drown new contributions which is a shame.

A lot of the old crap that is filling the forum is remoted from other hosts and caps taken, just search for the file you can normally find HF

I get 300kbs on filseonic as free, which is not so bad, HF I have an account. UK users have a problem which is essentially not the hosts fault.

phun should adopt megathreads for individual pornstars ... just like psuzy.

more downloads for uploaders and facilitate easier moderation

and also a thread to identify pornstars in videos. Make a rule that all video titles must contain actress and site names, unless the information could not be obtained in any other way. this will cut down on those massive reposts.
