These pictures and her actions do not come as a shock. What does is the fact that some of you not only condone this behavior, you encourage it. Perhaps those of you I mean are young like Miley is and therefore have not experienced first hand what this behavior leads to. I did. Hope that you never do.

Drugs suck. 5 years of my life that went by like a hazy dream. I call them ambition suckers. They simply make you happy with less. It doesn't matter the drug, they're all about the same when it comes to how they make a person apathetic and just dandy with it. Of course, Miley has too much money and likely too little sense. It could get bad fast, but more than likely the public scrutiny and an entourage of a few dozen people lusting after her and her money will inevitably keep her in line. Still, the rare person can't handle their first taste and simply spiral out of control with addiction.

I at least paced myself during my haze crazed years. Then again, I didn't have almost unlimited resources.

That said, if it weren't for drugs, I imagine some of our greatest music would have never been made.

she has being drinking, fucking and toking ever since she got titties. just like britney, lohan and the rest. teenagers don't stop being teenagers just because they are famous.

 

I'm 28, that may be young by some standards but it represents well over a decade of experimenting with various drugs so I think I can speak with some experience.

First off I would say there is no natural dividing lines between recreational drugs that are legal and socially accepted (e.g. alcohol, tobacco) and that which are illegal and socially taboo (e.g marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine). The legal status of drugs is influenced more by emotions and hysteria than rational evidential basis. People can destroy themselves just as well with what you can buy in your local convenience store as what you can buy off your local dealer.

Some drugs are a lot more dangerous than others. Alcohol and tobacco contrary to popular belief would be towards the more dangerous end of the scale. Salvia is at the very bottom end on the scale, it has no known toxic or addictive effect. It can trigger psychotic episodes but only in those with pre-existing conditions such as schizophrenia. Marijuana, Ecstasy, magic mushrooms and lsd are also towards the low end of the scale and are all a lot less harmful than alcohol and tobacco. Drugs such as cocaine (particularly crack), amphetamine (particularly crystal meth) and heroine would be more harmful than alcohol and tobacco.

The dangers of taking illegal drugs often stem from the widely varying doses and unknown ingredients that go into them. If they were regulated like legal drugs the dangers of taking them would drop dramatically. For example in Eastern Europe where wages are low and the price of alcohol high, people often buy illegal alcohol on the black market. The illegal alcohol is of a much lower quality and often much higher concentration and is often mixed with anti-freeze and other substances. It often causes fatal liver damage after consuming only a relatively small amount.

An 18 year old drinking a beer or smoking a cigarette is as likely to develop an abusive relationship with drugs as one smoking a joint of marijuana or salvia. To say this sort of behavior leads directly to a downward spiral into addiction is frankly hysterical.

Teaching young adults the realities of drugs including their dangers but also how to consume them responsibly is a far more effective way of preventing them developing it into an abusive relationship. Hysterical overreactions will often lead to a loss of trust. Miley will be entirely unscathed from her experience with salvia and if you were to rant on about the dangers of salvia, through her own first hand experience she will conclude you are overreacting. She will be less inclined to believe you in regards to the dangers of other drugs and far more likely to experiment with the more dangerous ones in the future such as cocaine.

In my life I've tried ecstasy, lsd, tobacco, magic mushrooms and would still consume alcohol and marijuana on an occasional basis. I've steered away from cocaine and amphetamines because i'm well aware of the dangers. In fact tobacco is probably the most dangerous drug I've ever consumed I stopped smoking it after a short period. I never mix drugs and I always consume in moderation and I've never developed an sort of addiction or other complications, apart from a few overly intoxicated episodes on alcohol and a bad hangover the next day.

P.s I have a decent third level qualification and a well paid job, I would consider myself reasonably successful in my career so far.

 

Sure, those are a few, but for every celebrity that makes an ass of themselves a couple dozen others handle themselves just fine. You're only hearing about the screw-ups because they make headlines.

That's why it will be Outlawed by these self appointed do gooders in this Nanny state of ours. I am so shocked that Miley has some vices. I distrust people who claim they have no moral failings. No one has the right to claim they are perfect. If the media think that this will sway my opion about her their sadly mistaken. I still think Miley is a nice person with fawlts like the rest of us.
