Whats happening? FS, Netload, RS, MU are all fine (minimum 200kb) but Hotfile can barely do 1. Ive even moved location (and network) and no-one else is on and its still like this.

I think riqardo post #455 could be very near the truth. Geographical location does appear to be a factor with all the relevant services, in my case, I am unable to download FS files that others obtain easily.
On the other hand, Rapidshare was always good for me (still is), but I am on the same continent as them, I seem to have problems with most out of Europe services.
Only thing to do is avoid the services that give you hassle (losing items you dearly want) and revert back to surfing for your favourites.

You only have to look at the download pattern to see how traffic movements have changed here, the volume of download to post is quite low nowadays.

So, geography seems to play a factor.

    Happy New Year Phun friends,

    Straight Roads :)

Sometimes it may help to cancel the download (not stop and resume) and start it again.
That's what i do and it mostly works

Im having a nightmare with all this. Hotfile is piss poor except in the am. As soon as the clock strikes 12pm it's shite. I've sent 2 messages to Hotfile after downloading their recommended file at 4pm at a high download speed yet anything posted here or another site, is pointless. No reply.

Filesonic, which was working brilliantly and was about to get a premium account, now crashes on IE if I try click on anything i.e. download, login, FAQ. And on Firefox, it stops downloading after about 100MB.

Megaupload, Netload and Fileserve still download at 150-250KB/sec day and night.

    Anyone know why??

I'll venture the guess that it's "capacity". 6 months since Rapidshare went to its new business direction and the "cashspamming" craze went into full, I'm guessing both Hotfile and Filesonic servers and bandwidth are maxing out and taxing their speed quality. As they're probably the most used filehost services right now, not surprised to hear about serious spikes in download speed with either of them.

I've never had good speeds with netload, so you might be close to their server, Kappo. Fileserve is still a rather "new kid on the block" so they still have server/bandwidth speed to spare... and Megaupload is hardly used here at all, so they have plenty of speed. ;)

Can't say I recall ever noticing any "Liberty Media" logos or notices on anything from any source.

I find hotfile to be faster and MORE reliable than either depositfile or filesonic on a regular basis from central US. For FS, it seems that to get any speed I need to either DL something that has been up awhile or do it while Europe is in its workday, otherwise their speed sucks - on a paid account! DF seems to just come and go randomly for me (also premium) and e-mail complaints go unanswered - no surprise. RS, when something is posted there, is reliable enough but nowhere near as fast as it was a year ago.

I find it rather funny how long it took to start a trial against hotfile. Maybe the "industry" should start to (anonymously) upload some wikileaks documents onto several filehosters and then tell the US gov they "found" something of national interest. Guess those hosters will be down the next day ;)

I heard that Mastercard is still collecting money for the Ku Klux Klan, but they don't dare to do so for wikileaks, strange world ...

The filesonic workaround has stopped working. Anyone have another workaround for UK users?

I'm hoping someone can help me, because Filesonic couldn't, and now is completely ignoring me. I signed up for a premium account with them a couple months ago, but have not been able to download ever since, while I am signed into my account. When I download free, without signing in, everything works fine - except it takes long obviously. When I click on a download link, it opens up a Filesonic screen where I have the option to click "High Speed Download" or "Slow Download." If I click on "Slow Download," everything goes fine. However, if I sign into my Filesonic premium account, and then click on a download link, I don't go to the same screen. Instead, I immediately get an error that says, "You cannot access this page directly. Please use the website to start your download or contact us in case of problem. If the problem persists, clear your cookies and try again." This happens EVERY time I try to download something, and from every site I've tried. However, if I log out and do the free version, it works fine. Any ideas???

By the way, in my opinion, I would strongly discourage anyone from buying a premium account with Filesonic. After a brief "I don't know" reply from them, I have sent them multiple emails and get no reply anymore. Shows how much they care about people paying money for their service!!!

    Thanks!!

Well, one question is whether you're or not you live in the UK - cuz people in the UK have had all sorts of connectivity issues with Filesonic. So that might be the issue right there.

Also, what browser are you using? Could be a relatively simple browser issue - take a look at LouisZ's post here as it might be this simple.

    Code:
    http://forum.phun.org/showpost.php?p=5047943&postcount=459
Honestly, I couldn't help you much more but there are some Filesonic experts that post here that should be able to help you out. User borgovan has been a big Filesonic supporter, so you may want to ask him to see if he knows anything.
