I don't think it's a solution at the moment.

Firstly, they have crap speeds for free users and premium users as well. Probably it's because of overloading servers right now as many filehosts are not filehosts any more and huge traffic had to re-route somewhere. Secondly, they have very strange rates for uploaders so from what I see they will be trying to spam with many threads and useless posts to make their money bigger. Thirdly, as far as I know DF is blocking US users and doesn't count downloads from this country, so I don't think it's the option to allow this filehost.

The only advantage of this host is that they are commonly known especially among pr0n downloaders and uploaders, among warez uploaders rather not - I don't mention a period after disaster because people looked for every alternative.

I agree it's one of the eldest and stablest host, but it doesn't deserve to be allowed here if it is alone here. With 2-3 other filehosts it's okay, but not alone.

Someone mentioned about long waiting times between downloads. Yeah it' true, but I don't think and don't see many clips that are splitted over the parts, mostly these are single links. DF allows to upload files with size up to 2 GB. More over, if they count only one unique download from one unique IP for every 24h and besides that they don't have any PPS program, what is the point of splitting files while using this host? Won't help, only disturb.

But to be honest I don't see any other really good alternative right now, DF is one of those that could be. But like I mentioned above - it should be allowed with at least 2-3 new filehosts.

 

Most are saying not DF alone... I agree but the reality right now is that Oron is the only other all inclusive one out there used by many site similar to PHUN.

You out of your mind? Allowing Oron here will destroy high quality traffic of this forum and the whole forum. But there is one exception - do not allow it alone. But personally I would think loong time before I allowed this host here.

I agree this host is very fast, but has very strange limits for free users and even premium users.

 

DF are based in Russia I think so perhaps will avoid the stuff other filehosts have with DCMA, I know often they just ignore reports from where I have used them and the mirror all died.

From that point of view I approove, like all hosts your location is linked to how downloadable the file is from whatever host, I think DF is poor as a free user in US but in Europe it is fine.

As a long time depositfiles user, I would say to allow them. I've never really ever had any issue with them that I haven't had with other filehosts. People want to complain about the wait time and d/l speeds for free users, but ALL of your filehosts have that issue. All the currently available hosts either decrease your d/l speed or make you wait a certain amount of time between d/l's and that's because they want you to buy the premium membership. Depositfiles does offer free premium time to those who upload files; you get a point for each unique download of your files per day. Rack up 5000 points, you earn a free month of premium.

The only downside I've noticed is like 5p1d3R mentioned, there are times some real slow speeds even with a premium membership. I have been downloading 4-5 files at the same time and it seems like 3-4 of them will be going at a decent rate (500-700 kbps, which for my connection is good for that many simultaneous d/l's), but then there's one that's only going at like 100 kbps and continues to d/l at that rate even after my other d/l's have finished. Don't know if it's the locale of the file or what it is, but it can be a little annoying, but IMO not any more than what I've seen from hosts like oron, rapishare and the like.

As of right now, IMO, depositfiles is the best option out there.

i have never downloaded a depositfile link faster than 90 kbps, in my personal experience is a crap host for free users. They also ban accounts easily but if you want add a cash host might be a good option

 

i have had an account with df for years, not premium tho, occasionally i will use a ticket from points accumulated if there is a lot i want to download, have about 60gb in there, like i say files rarely die, is kinda hard to make a lot of money with them, i think i made like 100 bucks in years so would avoid the filesonic type spamming, imho if the forum allows oron then will just be more of the same in terms of flooding

depositfiles is not the best, but is our only choice at the present time.

I approve it cause of 2 reasons:

1. Have premium account with them
2. I rarely see dead DF link and that is very positive thing for me. ( compared with HF where making post lasts longer then link )

Don't know about free speeds and other limitations cause i have premium with them for over 2-3 yrs but i can imagine that its not that great, especially now when almost everyone is forced to use DF and RS (with premium or 30kb/s). In a few months i'm sure some new filehosts will appear, but it will be hard to replace FS cause they were rly good for all users.

 

the other day i posted a video from a crappy site in just one forum after a month without uploading videos and the next day was already down :O (and i didnt even mention the website in the title). The worst is that it wouldnt surprise me that whoever sent the DMCA was one of those uploaders that love me so much which mean that they accept reports from almost anyone.

not to sure i like DF just tried it and took 30 minutes to d/l a 159.26MB anime.. So I guess if this forum approves them as acceptable I will have to purchase premium and when enough people are forced to purchase premium the feds will just focus on DF and shut them down

 

I have exactly the opposite to be honest, files like 4-5 years old.

They are in Russia tho I think, to be honest anyone who buys a premium account with any host for longer than a month right now is dumb. It does seem like RS is back to being popular again, no rewards for the uploader so no forum flooding anymore, and a stable host.

I think a required host rule may be in order like other sites, maybe, RS, DF, MediaFire, HF and then 'allowed' hosts from other sites, so uploader has to use one of them but if he want to post an oron or any other crap, he is free too.

That works on other sites, although would need to be specific mirrors not being a dick and rar'ing the non cash host, I hate that crap

 

Required host isnt a good idea, many would just delete themself the required host link 1 or 2 days later and just leave alternative host links there.

Edit: seems that depositfiles is no longer an option, they are massively banning account now.

 

They ban accounts of those who upload warez or receive a lot of dmca notifications.

My 3 accounts are still alive, uploading only porn.

 

Over a period of say 2-3 years, depo files last as long as mega files used to.

There is no perfect host anymore, perfect as described on PHUN:

1. Brings unlimited cash to cash posters.
2. Speedy downloads with minimal wait time between dls.
3. Links stay up for a year or more.

IMO looking at it that way is a thing of the past. When I see a file I want to dl, I press the button and when it's done, it's done.

Expect every link to get taken down, and when they stay up, hooray. I have a non-pay hotfile account with 300 files stored on there since it hit the fan and only one file has been dmca'd.

Oron and Depo are both OK for me. RS is dead now.
