I see that a lot of people who post files here are using Hotfile. And I think that is a really bad idea. I have nothing against Hotfile, I used them for a while a couple of years ago and they were fine. BUT, they are being sued now and it's not looking good. There already are problems with Hotfile deleting files. And I think it isn't going to be very long before they get shut down just like Megaupload, or, stop allowing file sharing (which makes them useless).

After Megaupload got shut down, some file hosts like Fileserve and Filesonic freaked out and killed all their file sharing, so now there are millions of Fileserve and Filesonic links all over the Internet that don't work any more. And I think pretty soon you're going to have the same situation with Hotfile.

So far, the only file host I have any confidence about is Rapidshare. It has always worked great for me and I don't mind paying for a premium account with them. Over the last few months I have found links to files on Rapidshare that are 3 years old I can still still download the files. I've never seen that with any other file host.

I hear that and understand, I had rapidshare for a year while I was just a monger, but the rewards that is missing from them is just a little more incentive to upload now that I have over 4.5TB of porn from years of collecting. It's time to reup and share.

Hotfile all but useless nowadays with files there being deleted rapidly because of the government breathing down their necks. Sooner or later Hotfile will be gone or will have to drastically change how they operate. Even though Hotfile has great download speed for free users it is a moot point when everything is deleted. Rapidshare on the other hand does not delete files as fast or at all and generally things last a long time on RS but the downside is their download speeds for free users are absolutely horrendous. They pause your downloads and drag a 200mb file into a 3-4 hour affair.

Even with how hotfile deletes uploads most of the people that are still uploading on the forum are still using Hotfile due to the fact that RS provides no rewards. At this point both file hosts are useless. As a downloader myself I don't see a point to getting a premium membership to either site. One site deletes everything and the other site has no content. Until there is are better hosts allowed traffic to this section will probably slow down a lot.

What I think is really asinine with the "Johnny come lately" hotfile spammers is that they can only get rewards from Hotfile if they sell premium memberships and that's a double-edge sword; if you upload popular files, even if you make a sale or two chances are the file is going get deleted and the account will get closed even before the payouts are rewards. If you try to hide your downloads (renaming files, renaming titles), hardly anyone will notice/download your files.

Expecting anyone to actually pay for a premium Hotfile premium membership is also really inconsiderate; with the way Hotfile is deleting files, even if you get a Hotfile premium membership GOOD LUCK trying to find working Hotfile links that last more than a week! A complete waste of money and uploaders who try to lure Phun members into buying a Hotfile account should be ashamed of themselves.

Sorry for the soapbox moment - just getting tired of the latest crop of Hotfile spammers. That and it took me 3 hours to download a file from Depositfiles today as a free user. That file was only 190MB in size btw.

Don't know when the admins/mods will make a decision but it's clear to me, we need more than just one filehost if we're planning to add Depositfiles.

Rapidgator is looking quite nice, i'm getting the fastest upload speed i've ever had with any filehost!!
**Edit im getting 700KBps DL speed as free user aswell!! Pretty good!! :D

They do offer some nice rates for uploader which will attract some top posters back which have left! :) But also alot of spammers and we don't want this place to become a swamp of gator links! :lol2:

As for Hotfile, I wouldn't waste my time with them!

The mass deletion of links and accounts and also the speed! I was getting 350KBs as free user and upgraded to premium and the speed didn't rise very much!!

Im getting around 100 - 200KBs as free user with Depositfiles and around 1.3MB as premium! :D

I like how every cashspammer is so desperate to jump on ANY filehost that will offer a "great payout".... even if it's a filehost like Rapidgator that has been traditionally a horrible host with crap upload AND download speeds. In fact, it was so bad, Paypal pulled the plug on Rapidgator which caused them to shutdown:

    http://torrentfreak.com/cyberlocker-to-shut-down-after-paypal-ban-120226/

It was only a couple weeks ago it was bought out by some "Russian venture" that has been actively promoting their "great rewards program" and suddenly their speeds are actually decent (not 3mbps like, but still surprisingly good).

Funny how all of you above are NOW claiming how great Rapidgator is as a filehost, isn't it? Wonder why you didn't recommend Rapidgator a month ago when this thread started. Hell, I'm willing to bet if Filesonic - which screwed ALL of you cashspammers - came back tomorrow, ALL of you would jump back on Filesonic. [IMG]

Rapidgator will be just around long enough to get enough naive people to buy premium accounts (only with credit cards directly, btw) and then, leave you all hanging while runing with the money. But hey, take advantage of it now cashspammers and make all that "virtual reward" money while you can! :p

Can't speak for everyone else but lately if I even visit phun it's just to look around the Celeb section or the general forums for a laugh. Since 99.9% of the posts in the Sexy Video section are terrible it's better to visit other forums to find clips that are even worth downloading.

I have to agree with what Weblurker has said, you can't keep out the cashspammers indefinitely. Like it or not they do provide content for people to browse through and download. Even though not every clip that cashspammers post is high quality or even worth downloading, it still provides visitors a chance to browse through and find something that they might like. Right now there is nothing.

The two hosts that phun have right now are useless. This section of the forum is a ghost town and that makes me sad.

Have to agree with this. This thread is what over a month old with no decision made? Most of the shares in this forum now are garbage and the few that are quality seem to be deleted within 24 hours. At this juncture I don't think it really matters whether the hosts that are chosen have a payout program or not. All I really care about is getting some quality porn back in here on hosts that are respectably fast for both free and premium users. While Rapidshare might be the best host out there, guess what? Hardly no one here is using it. I say pick depositfiles, this rapidgator which I've actually never heard of until this thread, and whatever other hosts are popular at moment. Either way I honestly do believe a decision has to be made in the immediate future. Say what you will about the cashspammers, but they generate traffic to this forum. The more traffic to the forums, the better the chance this forum remains alive. The fact that a decision hasn't been made in regards to new filehosts does actually concern me. The long wait leads me to believe that sometime in the future we're going to attempt to come to this forum and it's no longer going to be here.

brianbell25 and I have remarked about their recent crappy speeds and probably has something to do with whether the file you're downloading is a recent upload or not... the more recent a file is, the more likely you're going to have painfully awful download speeds as a free user (and from what I've heard, not that much improved as a Premium user either).

    Well-typed, weblurker. :yup:

I do agree that a couple new filehosting options should've been added to Phun already - especially since Filesonic AND Megaupload got zapped. But with that said, I PREFER if the filehosting options that were added weren't friendly to the type of aberrant posting practices that created this problem. As you stated the file hosting industry is in turmoil and nearly all of the filehosting services have pretty much done away with the any type of payout system and with that, the mindset of posting purely for "virtual rewards" is a dead concept for the time being. That cashspammers are still trying to eke out meager rewards with mass postings of Hotfile uploads and pushing an agenda here to allow questionable filehosts with reward systems is asinine to say the least; given the filesharing climate, they should realize the "good times" of filesharing payouts are over.

Anyway, I can go on and on, but I do agree with your main message - add new filehosts already, dammit.

Oh, the expectation that cashspammers are going to be stamped out permanently is unrealistic - they're going to find ways around anything, whether it's including text links in their files to other filehost links or having a signature that links to their blog, then signature spamming the boards.

My point is this - cashspammers should realize with the current filehost climate, the days of massive payout rewards are OVER and to continue posting as if they're going to continue getting rewards (e.g. the current Hotfile spammers as of late) is useless. So let's stop with the unhealthy obsession of posting only for "virtual cash" payouts already cuz that train has left the station and it just might be the last train.

Anyway, I've said enough and I'm sure people are getting tired of my pollyanna-like preaching. I already put my say in what filehost options I'm cool with in addition to Depositfiles, but here's the list again:

    1) Toucansharing (ALSO added over at PSuzy)
    2) iFile.it
    3) Zippyshare

If you want to know more of those options, I've done a brief write-up on those three options here.
