    Well as I understand it, "progressive conservatism" (at least the term) originated in the late 70's from the UK and the ideas were brought here to the US. The central belief is that moderate conservative thought and means can lead to progressive ends - like civic duty, welfare/social security reform structured per county/state and other stuff I can't recall from college. ;)

    Meghan McCain is progressive in her thoughts about sex education and gay/lesbian rights (she support gay marriage quite openly).
