    That's what they gave me for my knees way back when, but that would have chewed up my stomach at the time.

    I just checked. For my 2nd knee they gave me 800mg pills. I never took one. ("Take one 3 times daily.")

    I don't know why docs prefer Ibuprofen so much....it helps pain a bit but does not kill the pain...Personally it did nothing for me when I had my wisdom teeth out....And I had to request something different......It is not good for your stomach... I'm sure docs prescribe it because..it isn't addictive.....Vicodin and Tylenol 3 are much more effective at lower doses.......

    You're right Kaos. It's the strongest non-addictive thing they can prescribe. Anything else and the Dr. ends up fighting off calls for refills 'cause the patient is addicted.

    When I have a toothache, I usually pop in two Ibuprofen 400. Unless I got the prescription for the 600 Ibus.
