I heard that aspirin, etc., are bad for dogs!

 

Been giving aspirin to dogs since the '50's.....never heard of that....in fact, a vet recommended it when we had Boston Terriers, only due to their size, we broke then in half. Never heard of that before....I always gave my dogs aspirin with food, at least a small about to insure no stomach issues.

 

I just looked it up: Aspirin is OK (10mg per pound, every 12 hours). It's Advil and other pain drugs that cause problems.

I just knocked on every door in my bldg -- nobody has aspirin, or they didn't answer. I will not give up. I'm going to call a guy in the building next door.

 

I'll just have to wait till tomorrow to get some aspirin.

 

Wish I could reach out and give you a bottle....

 

The guy in the next building has some. Going there now.

 

that is good to hear.....I know how much you care for your puppies.....we have that in common.

Gonna do the nightly routine of taking my pups out, bedtime treats, the down for the night....should be back no later than 11 PM....

The guy was actually out with his fiancee, on their way home when I called his cell phone. I said thanks anyway. Five minutes later he called me back: They got aspirin at the gas station on the way home and brought it here! How nice!

 

Yes, very nice......kinda makes one believe in the human race.....if she likes cheese, that is good to give her the aspirin with as the fat helps to protect the stomach lining....may not be necessary if she ate within the last two hours though.....

 

I'm afraid I had to force it down. I put it in cheese -- she ate the cheese and spit out the aspirin.

 

that is what my present dogs would do....then I learned to put the tablet in a spoon....add a few drops of water and let it sit a minute....makes a paste which you can put on your finger the smear on the back of their tongue......
