    She has been getting those about twice a year now for quite some time. With her very thick fur, they are very hard to detect until she has a huge (like about the size of a lemon) raw area in which the fur has fallen out....and I mean raw. It seems something makes that area itch or bother her and she starts to bite it....what ever causes the itching and her biting lead to a bacterial skin infection. I thought I had caught this early and thus the call for the meds, but the Vet said there is no current infection. I have a spray that is a combination of cortisone (strong) and topical antibiotic to apply twice a day. If she continues to bite at the area, I also have pregnazone tablets to start giving her. We are absolutely clueless what the cause is. She had a very good diet with vitamin and mineral supplements....I also give her omega 3 fatty acid daily. :dunno:

    She definitely has this tendency. Both dogs seem to itch more than normal about 3 to 4 days after getting the monthly topical flea treatment, and this is why I am switching to the more expensive monthly oral treatment. I got enough of the oral flea treatments to last until my supply of monthly heart worm treatments are gone, then i am switching to a combination flea/tick/heart worm monthly oral treatment. At least, that is the current plan.

    Yes. I think she wrenched it jumping off the chair, or something like that. It got better in 2 days, although her legs aren't as strong as when she was younger.
