    Amelie has a history of getting itchy with the chewing on her back side....and this frequently turned into hot spots (bacterial skin infections). The last time this started, I took her to the vets thinking they would give me the antibiotic prescription, but they did not and rather, gave me pregnazone. I gave half dosage....the itching stopped, but her appetite went crazy.....that was two months ago and she is still wanting to eat half again what she use to...:dunno:

    She was only on pregazone for three days....it has long since worn off...:shock:

    Hate to hear that Thore! We've been back and forth on a monthly basis to figure out what Deuce's problem is. The cortico-steroids help for about three weeks and then nothing. That's how we know it's time to take him back again. We'll modify his diet, slowly, and see what happens. He likes the food so it's just a matter of weening him from the typical.

    That's not far from the truth there Scribbles! All gluten free free. No wheat or such. Pain in the ass is the older of the two, Roscoe, doesn't care for it so far. See, we don't have a preset feeding time. We have an automatic feeder, so if they get hungry, they eat. They have never gorged themselves as some pups might do. Do I now feed them separately?

    If Roscoe won't eat it, you may need to separate the feeding routine. Kind of a hassle, but I'd do it for my dogs.

    I don't own dogs but I figure that they would still eat out of the others bowl so whatever you are trying to do would be nullified by the access to the others bowl.

    Similar problem here.....Amelie does not normally like dry food....I have to soak it with some water for an hour or two, then add the canned dog food....she eats that. Domenic does not eat much at one time and loves the dry food. So, we just used to keep his bowl full all the time and he would "graze" when he wanted to. But now, Amelie cleans out his bowl at night....So it looks like I am going to have to pick up Domenic's bowl at night. Dogs can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but like you said, they are worth it.

    You probably shouldn't change Roscoe's diet if it's not necessary. So yeah, I guess you should feed Roscoe separately. Ask your vet to make sure.

    I'd still continue using the auto-feeder for Deuce though. If Roscoe takes to that food, he'll do so on his own terms.
