    I asked Throbbn on whatsapp if he had power and internet. His answer "Not at home. We are using an small generator for lights."
    Later today he told me " Hey Cold. Thanks for checking in. We were lucky. Some had a lot of damage" and he told "Say hello to the Phunners. And let them know everything is ok with me"

    I told him thet i would do that

    Sandy ran north by us about 200 miles or so out in the Atlantic....the coast got some rain, but all I got was 4 to 5 days of breezy overcast. So she caused no problems for me or my area of north central Florida.

    Thanks my good friend.....we here in Florida have to deal with hurricanes almost every year......a great deal of our older buildings have been destroyed by earlier hurricanes and the replacements are better suited to withstand the associated wind loads. We have been very restrictive on coastal construction now for over 40 years. In short, we handle major storms better than most of the country...this is probably true of all the southern coastal states.

    For over 20 years now there have been documentaries concerning the most vulnerable areas for major cyclonic storms here in the USA. The NYC area was always ranked number 1 with New Orleans close behind. They always said it was not a matter of if, but when. Seems that has been answered. It will be interesting to see how they reconstruct those areas as to whether they improve the strength of construction or repeat existing construction. Maybe there are locations where residences just should not be rebuilt (as in single family houses).

    The sad thing is, this could happen again next year as there is no guarantees that another 40 or so years will pass before there is a re-occurrence.
