Well, there is obviously a market for it. Many people like it. I have no use for hockey, so I don't watch it. I hated the hype too, but guess what, it will be worse for the super bowl....which I refuse to watch. So, if you no longer care for the college football bowl situation, just don't watch it.

 

Notre Dame did go undefeated (as much as I dislike 'em) - they played some pretty good teams.

 

well Florida lost to Louisville ... and they were beat by UCONN. I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean UCONN is better than Florida ...

 

I favor a play off system using 16 teams....that would take four weeks and consist of 15 games, which would compensate for eliminating the bowl games....they would be played on "neutral" sites using most of the existing bowl sites.

There were 35 bowl games :shock: half were rather ridiculous. Army, Navy, and Air Force all got wiped.

 

It's probably "Googlable." LOL Give it a search.

I didn't watch ... and I didn't watch the Rose Bowl "the Grand Daddy of them all" despite the incessant hype. Plenty of empty seats in MANY bowls ... I liked it better when it was the Rose Bowl, Cotton, Orange etc ... but those days are never coming back.

Pro football rules in this area, but I'd have to say they are doing the same thing ... too damn many time slots ... I used to like Sunday 1pm & 4pm and Monday night football was a big deal ... now its Sunday Night, Thursday games & Saturday games (regular season). too much for me.

 

I recall from a show on ESPN where they said Florida was ranked #1 in schedule strength and Louisville 113th.....go figure. The problem is Louisville came to play football and Florida only came to play....

 

I just wanna see my home team (Michigan) in a bowl game at the end of the year.

I don't think all these minor bowl games help the sport. 35 bowl games = 70 teams that were the "best"?? It's kind of like a participation trophy.

Army, Navy & Air Force probably get selected because of their "APPEAL" (commerce). Let's face it - they're not getting too many blue chippers ... if you are NFL bound you probably don't want a service life/commitment.

Army/Navy games are fun though.

16 teams makes sense ... I doubt anyone higher ranked that 16 could make a valid claim that they were best team in college. That plan moves college football more towards a "pro style" playoff.
