    He fought thyroid cancer for years. (Since 2002.) It finally got him. He was 70 years old. He never stopped writing.

    Way back in the day he had a movie critic show with another guy, his name escapes me now, that pretty much coined the phrase "two thumbs up". Very popular over here. Any movie buff in the States tuned into their previews.Just remembered the other guy was Syskel.
