House and land.....most definitely; however, your homesteaded property (your one and only piece of property that you claim as your official residence) gets some breaks, such as some deductions and a restriction by State Statute on the maximum annual rate your assessed tax value can increase..etc. I will get another small taxing reduction when I turn 65 in a year and a half.

All over the road vehicles must pay an annual registration fee. Boats must pay an annual registration fee.

I have no experience with it, but some small businesses are hit with an annual equipment tax I believe it is called a tangible property tax.

My house is homesteaded and has been for 23 years. I pay just under $6K a year in property taxes on it...if it was not for the tax breaks given to homesteaded property, my taxes would be between $12K and $15K a year.

 

That's a pretty high property tax.

 

Oh shit! I was under the impression that Florida was a lot easier on personal property taxes. That sounds very similar to what we have to pay here in Va.

One of the highest Counties in the state. And the people here are stupid also....several years ago there was a referendum concerning capital improvements for our public schools. The voters approved the expenditures, which also required that the necessary millage (tax rates) increases would be levied on all properties within the County if no other means of financing were approved by the voters. Then the voters did not approved the sales tax increase to pay for it, so it got added to all property taxes. The largest taxing entity for me is the public schools.....more than the city taxes.....more than the county taxes. State water management districts also hit our property taxes as well as any other voter approved taxing districts. Our county has a Library taxing district.......another thing I pay for and have never used in my entire life!
