Therefore, please do not use imagebam, or any host, that provides live playing gifs in those specific threads. If you see your gif playing once you post, try to use a smaller thumbnail and if that does not work use a different approved host.

What about instead of stickies for old threads, we put a link to the old thread in the new threads?

Didn't we advise a Phunner who had tore his.... gentalia? Someone mentioned super glue and I agreed as I have used it to repair torn fingers while bowling.

What about link 'em, but also sticky them for a very brief time like, a week. If you can't find it through the search... :dunno: just my :2cent:

The decision also has to be made when a thread's page count indicates closure, etc.

I would say when you shed your skin, which I think is 2 to 3 weeks. I don't remember it being a problem and potentially much less uncomfortable than having staples or stitches removed.

I don't see a problem with a megathread. I see a problem with a server. Server was fekking up when this thread was new.

a good couple weeks. When you wash your skin expands and it weakens it each time. + according to the Dr., when the skin replaces itself it sloughs the residual superglue.

10,000 replies? 25,000? It will also have to depend on the type of thread. A heavy graphics thread like "women in red" will have to be swapped out sooner than pure/nearly chat like igloo.

I'd say that's about right. Never caused me any discomfort. There is a product called New Skin, which is just like super glue, used by and preferred by lots of bowlers. Here's a link:http://www.drugstore.com/new-skin-first-aid-antiseptic-liquid-bandage/qxp13279

I have used this during a tourney and my scores did not suffer.

IMO the host is still the biggest problem

I can agree with. However, if Cayne isn't switching hosts again, then what can be done? I couldn't even log in yesterday because of 504s. Isn't that a bit ridiculous after this long.....

Certainly thread size isnt the biggest issue, but it is one we can do something about. Thread size does actually matter, if a phun server has to grab a 100 MB thread file and write it to memory or keep it in cache it's much more clumsy than a 1 MB thread. (That's not exactly the way it works, but this is an easy example).

I totally agree, this host blows goats. I doubt the servers have ever been set up correctly.

the other day i noticed that 1 server was running nginx 1.0.6 webserver while another was running 1.2.1, who knows what server 3 was running.

So, our phun.org was phucked because of host update foolishness. Who knows what else theyre doing. Have you run a whois on phun lately?

Notice, until our contract is up phun CANNOT transfer to a new home. Possibly incurring a monster penalty. Im sure thats why Cayne wont move again.

I agree with Cy. I have no problem with the concept of breaking up really big threads...like this one and other mega pic threads. I see that this would cause very little inconvenience. I can't ever remember looking back more than 50 pages for anything....but, if necessary, that data would be there for reference in a locked thread. Personally, I would make a folder in the Home section to place these closed threads. The Hall of Fame folder does not seem right to me and I am sure an appropriate folder name can be defined.

The Host may be the problem, but it seems the problem is not going to go away, and it seems self defeating not to do things on our own to help improve the operation of Phun that does not include hardly any inconvenience and does not limit or reduce our current activities here.

I could not make that statement without having a copy of the contract, reading it, and having any questions I may have answered. Plus, if there is a disagreement, you would probably be looking at required legal action.....in this country, you better have a fat wallet to play that game.
